I'm battling breast cancer, but the question is for my niece who has lymphoma. She went through 8 doses of chemo, then was hopitalized for a week because of a fever. She just had a CAT scan and there were three spots showing in her neck, abdomen, and groin areas. The doctor is puzzled and he's going to wait another 2 months for another Cat scan. He's thinking the spots(?) may not be cancer, but something "left over" from the week she was so sick with fever. Anyone have a similar problem??? Like maybe the CAT scan was showing scar tissue? |

Re: CAT SCANS..an important question
Spots on scans can mean SO many things ranging from nothing to worry about to something serious. Can she get a PET scan too? The spots would make me nervous enough to want to have another look see. I had lung spots that disappeared over time, and I had chest spots that turned out to be trouble. In both cases it was the PET scan that either ruled it in or out as something that needed to be dealt with. Good luck.

Re: CAT SCANS..an important question
Yes my son is having the same thing. After his chemo and a stem cell rescue, the ct scan showed two bumps or tumors, they think it might also be scar tissue, but to make sure this monday he will have a pet test. I think that is how you say it. They will shoot a dye in him and then scan again the whole body, test takes about 3-5 hours. The doctors stated that this test will show them what it is. Still no matter what they still want him to under go radiation, he will be starting that procedure in May.My prayers are with you both,My son who is 25 has been fighting hodgkins for over a year.

Thanks, Gals, for responding.
Together, so sorry about your 25 yr. old son...tough for anyone, but more tragic for the young people.

I am new at this and Im not sure how much I should write if Im going to accidently delete it. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's stage 4B and had ABVD two years ago.
I had a massive amount of stuff in my abdomen and my doctor was sure it was disease. They did major surgery and found it was all scar tissue. You might ask for a PET scan which is very good for detecting Hodgkins disease.

Hello Sweet-Onion...I had Hodgkins also. My doc also told me there was a small dark mass still showing on the scan,..he then told me it was scar tissue.
