I have just finished chemo & radiation, now face implant surgery. Just wondering what to expect, have read some but nothing is like hearing it from someone who knows.

Hey Sandra, I think this is you. I hope you get lots of info here. I check it daily, a lot of times there is someone going thru something just like you and are already posting and you learn alot by reading old posts.

    Hi,
I was planning to do the latissimus dorsi flap surgery and my original surgeon really wasn't doing enough of them to have the surgery down pat. It was taking him 10 1/2 hours on the OR table instead of maybe the 6 (I have a double mastec). So I looked and found another surgeon. She said that because I lead an active lifestyle, I should think simple first. I opted for the saline implants (size C or 600 cc) and surgery took all of 1 1/2 hrs as out patient in a 5- bed hosp. Went back to her office next day for check up and all is well. Tomorrow makes two weeks since surgery and I am driving around and getting back to routine. Took an excercise class today to test waters and felt good doing but got a little swelling in afternoon. But that too went down, so I am feeling better each day and have range of motion. Looking to regain strength and 1 and 3 lb wts work. I am glad I did it this way (because I still have the choice to do the other but that would be months or recoup time). The end of Nov., I get nipples and she does that in her office within 30 min. Not bad. So far the results are incredible and very natural looking and feeling. (I had expanders for 14 months that encapsulated and bruised ribs and sternum, so this is feeling like freedom compared to what I was enduring prior). Best of luck to you. Hope this info helps.
    Hugs, Iris
