My father, 65 years old, is living with renal cancer. He is currently on Interlukin and Interferon and experiencing nausia, fatigue, and shakiness. Is there anything my mom and I can do to comfort him? How can we remain positive when he is so negative? Are any of you in therapy? Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hello, My mother-in-law is also taking the interlukin. She is also very sick from it. She has only been on the treatment for one week and she is already questioning whether it is worth it or not. We are having some people from hospice over tonight to evaluate her. Hopefuly they can give her some emotional support. Please write back and let me know how it is going. My screen name is zanzat and I would like to have someone to talk to about this too. Thanks and good luck.

Hi, I've been on IL-2 since November. I don't have all the answers, but if I can help I would like to.

Hi Jim. Thanks for writing. Do you get nauseus every time? The doctor told my mother in law that she should not be getting sick like that but she is. She is very frustrated. Have you seen any improvement yet with your cancer yet?
    Thanks

Hi zanzat, I get a very sour stomach about 3 hours after each shot. It gets worse in weeks 5 and 6. I can eat breakfast and lunch, but not dinner.
I"m very lucky that the tumors haven't grow since November.
    Keep the Faith

Thanks for your help. Did you cancer spread? He has a pretty low dose, with interferon as well. He's at home. We're trying to keep him positive, but when he feels like crap, he wants to give up. How are you doing now? Did the IL2 work? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
