My Husband Todd is going to have a stem cell transplant within the next couple of months and we have to go to MD Anderson in Texas. I was just wondering if anybody has had this done or knows anything about it. If you could please write back. Thanks Ange |

RE: Stem Cell Transplant
Hi there,
Yes, I had a Stem Cell Transplant last April. I am now in remission from Hodgkins disease. I be happy to try and answer any of your questions. Write back if you would like to discuss. I wish your husband the best. I had an autolougous Stem Cell, is that what he is having?

Hi Tamis,
I'm glad to hear you are in remission. That is great news. My husband and I are leaving for Texas Aug 15 to have a catscan done to see when he will have his autolougous Stem Cell transplant done. I guess I really don't know what to ask there are so many things running through my mind right now. Well there are a few questions coming to my head now. What is the worst part of the procedure? (chemo, taking of the stem cell, recovery?) I know that it probably won't be the same for him but I just want to get some kind of a clue. How long after the procedure did it take to recover? Well I can't think of any other questions right now.
You are the first person I have talked to that knows what we are going through and I hope that you will right back.
Thanks

RE: Stem Cell Transplant
My wife was diagnosed with NHL in July of last year. After 6 treatments of Chemotherapy she had to be taken off because of what was happening with her blood. The doctor put her on Rituxmnab and she had 7 treatments before discovering that the Lymphoma had returned. Her latest round of treatments consisted of Chemo which was given to her over a three day period in the hospital on two separate occasions. In two weeks we are expected to begin the initial steps for stem cell transplant. As her caregiver I would welcome any input at all regarding this procedure. Thank you so much. M. Gregg

I will be getting a stem cell transplant next month for Hodgkins disease. I am 41 years old and I have tolerated the previous chemotherapy very well. How much worse did you feel during the stem cell transplant? What can I expect during the treatments?
