Last week my sister was told that she has a tumor on her brain stem. They have not performed a biopsy yet. The doctors have taken away all her hope (except in God). I am looking for information that could encourage my family. I would like to find someone with brain stem cancer who is a survivor who could share their story. I would also be interested in talking with others. I should know more later about what kind it is. |

RE: Brain Stem Glioma, caregiver
Don't you hate it when the Dr.s take away hope? My partner was diagnosed with 2 brain tumors. (metastatic). One in the cerebellum and another in the frontal lobe. The Dr. basically said he had 6 months to a year to live and she wasn't recommending surgery. Just whole brain radiation and go home to die. Not exactly the news we needed to hear. We went and got a second opinion and got a realistic and hopeful perspective and since then, the larger of the two tumors were removed and he is on his first week of radiation.
I don't know if this will make a difference, but we have hope and we are both going to give a good fight and not allow anyone to take away hope. Without it, what is the point?
I hope you are talking to Dr.s that will give you some hope, no matter how bad it looks..
Good luck.
