Well, I've had my second Taxotere. I had a LOT of pain the weekend after the first one. Saw the Dr. before this one and he decided to forgo my Neulasta shot this time around to see if that helps. My counts have been consistently good all through the A/C and up to this point, so we're hoping they'll stay up even without the Neulasta.

My hair is starting to come back in. Hubby says I now look like I have a "5 O'clock shadow" on my head. LOL I'll just be glad when I get enough of it back to not have to wear a hat every time I go out the door just to keep my head from freezing. I've been going "topless" inside for a while now, even in public, because the hot flashes are so bad that I just sweat through any hat or scarf on my head. Since I've finished the A/C, they're starting to ease up as well. Now, if I can just get through the last 2 Taxotere treatments without the pain and neuropathy getting any worse, I'll be done with all the potentially hard stuff and just have the Herceptin and radiation to deal with.

Here's hoping I don't have to break out the heavy duty pain meds this weekend like I did after my first Taxotere treatment!

    some people have said
some people have said claritin helps with the pain from neulasta. Also vitamin B6 helps with the neuropathy.

    Hoping
your pain eases up. I just had my final chemo of Taxotere/Cytoxan and Neulasta shot. I've had minimal pain but do sleep a lot. I already suffer from osteoarthritis and lumbar spinal stenosis so have dealt with pain for a long time. Hang in there. My hair makes me look like a mad scientist. lol

    I sure hope your next
I sure hope your next Taxotere is easier on you. It was much easier on me than the AC was, and my hair also started growing back when I was on Taxotere. My mom's having her 1st of 2 taxotere's today.
I got those terrible hot flashes too - thank God they have eased up since my chemo finished. I started taking Tamoxifen a month ago, and I get hot flashes from that, but not nearly as bad as when I was on AC. It sure does stink to go through this in the winter, doesn't it? You're freezing because you have no hair on your head, because your head's cold your whole dang body is cold, then one of those hot flashes comes out of no where and you feel like stripping down to your underwear in the middle of Wal-mart! (or wherever you may be at the time of said hot flash, for me, it's usually while I'm out shopping though)
    *hugs*

    Let's try this again.
I posted first thing this a.m., but it's not here.

Glad to hear from you again. Isn't it a good feeling to see a light at the end of the "chemo" tunnel. Hopefully, it will be over before you know it.

Herceptin by itself is a piece of cake for me. Not bad at all. As I type, I am in the chair having my 9th Herceptin treatment. So I will be 1/2 done after today.

    Hugs, Jean

    Ask your doctor about
Ask your doctor about claritin for the neulasta pain, I believe it is recommended by the manufacturer. It would be a shame to risk your blood counts if there is an effective way to deal with the pain.

Glad to hear about your hair coming back, we go through so much to battle this beast! But it seems that you're pretty tough!

    Good luck this weekend!

    Hoping the pain gets better
Hoping the pain gets better and that you get through these last treatments more easily than the first ones. Love the five o'clock shadow. Soon it will be a full fledged beard. LOL
    Prayers that all progresses well.

    Glad to hear from you
Taxotere and Neulasta kicked my butt when I had to take it. Going thru the neuropthy stinks. You look at your body, and it just doesn't seem like it's you (know what I mean). Just endure for a little longer you are almost there.

How are the teeth? You ever get that problem fixed?

Take care you and your family

hoping for a painless weekend for you
glad you posted with your update and kept in touch. Yeah!!!!for getting through the chemo tunnel. The rads will be a piece of cake after that! I am sending positive thoughts your way for a painless future. Keep your head up and it will all be a memory...maybe even a chemo-brain memory which is not so bad for some things Hugs

    Teeth okay for now...
I haven't had any more issues with my teeth. I'm hoping they'll continue to stay pain free until I finish the chemotherapy for good. For now, I'm just looking forward to the end of that road. 2 more Taxotere's to go & I'll be done!
