One year cancerversary this Thursday - everyone invited to the party
This Thursday marks one year since my last surgery. Some days it seems like it has taken forever to get here and other days it seems like only yesterday......
I would like to invite all my "old" friends and newbies to help me celebrate this special day. The past year has been filled with ups and downs, good days and bad, and a lot of emotions. Medication dosage adjustments, trips to the ER, and trying to work full time while only having gotten a few hours of sleep are just some of the things I've been dealing with this year.
Some good things have been:
1. Finding out who my true friends and family are because they are the ones who stuck by me.
2. Thinking about more ways I can take better care of myself and exercise (this is a work in progress every day).
3. Listening to my body and knowing when to say "no" to requests from co-workers, friends and family. I'm no good to anyone if I'm tired or get sick.
4. Seeing my life differently since my dx and realizing that I have some control over how it turns out.
Thank you all for your support, insight, friendship, compassion, strength, tears, and smiles (love the jokes). You are all part of my life now and I appreciate each of you and your individual situations. I pray for your health and your families. I cry when you are sad or get bad news and I laugh when you write about something funny. I feel defensive when one of you has a bad experience with a medical professional, co-worker, friend or family member. I would fight for any of you and protect you from having to hear stupid comments from people.
I pay attention to the advice you give and the tips on making things better. I enjoy the off bc topic posts and look forward to any jokes that get posted (some of these make me laugh so hard I cry - which is a good thing).
I hope I have posted something at some point which made one of you feel better or know that you weren't alone. I open up on this discussion board and what you get is (raw) me.
Take care of yourselves. I hope to be posting to all of you for years to come.
Wolfi
