Does anyone actually do the old style open surgery?
Isnt that what all prostate surgerys are now?
Do I have to make sure that our dr is doing the laproscoptic
type and not the old style?
He said he would do the nerve sparing~~
and does anyone know how effective the nerve sparing is if it
is only done on one side???
thanks~~

Yes, some really excellent surgeons with really good track records are doing "open." Your concern should be less with the method than with your surgeon's skill at the method he's chosen.
As far as I know, there is no statistically significant, reproduceable evidence that open produces better or worse cure rates than laparoscopic.
