Thought for the day...
Vickie Girard, in her book "There's No Place Like Hope", looked up the meaning of support and had this to say...
"I once looked up support in the dictionary. It says: "To carry the weight; To maintain position to keep from falling, sinking, or slipping; To be able to bear - withstand; To keep from falling or yielding during stress; To furnish corroborating evidence; To aid the cause of by approving, favoring, advocating; To take action." What a wonderful definition! Believe me, every single word applies to the experience of belonging to a cancer patient support group." Vickie Girard
Rob; in Vancouver
"We are pilgrims on a journey, fellow travelers on a road. We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load." Richard Gillard

How true!! I read your Cancer Journal for the first time today. Your writing today on support groups was wonderful. I look forward to reading more on your blog. Thanks for all of your inspiring words!

Rob,
Very true! One of the most important things a person can offer during times of dealing with cancer isn't a casserole or flowers. It's support and hope that tomorrow will bring another opportunity to encounter something new, or simply seeing something new in something they have known for years. Cancer is not a party, but I have certainly met my share of people I would party with anyday! lol
Whether caregiver, patient, or survivor, we all know the impact that cancer has. We all know the importance of keeping in contact on this board or some other form of support. You shoulda known us all when we went to Halifax, you would have loved it!
The next Palooza, in 2008, you and your wife will have to join us!
