What is base of tongue throat cancer death like and what i should do to help

My father got base of tongue tumor removed 2 years ago. Got 35 radioation and this year 12 chemo and 2 immunotherapy. End of july doctor said maybe 3 months left to leave. Now he takes 10/500mg xeloda palliative chemo. His pain is getting worse and lips swelling. What should i do to help and how the death would be like ? It's very hard for me to write these down but want to know more before it happens. Thanks.

    Your care team should be able...

    To direct you to palliative care or hospice resources who can help answer your questions about end of life.  Sorry to hear about your father.  Take care.

    I am very puzzled and saddened that no-one has had even a partial answer to your question in this forum yet. I myslelf founfd our recently that I have a recurrence ofmy H & N cancer. I have also seen number of friends (including a 24 years old girl friend when I was the same age) and family dying from various sorts of cancers (Not H&N) and it is a one the most agonizining, painfull and degrading ways to die. I did 1 hour of reasearch and I have some info that may or may not help you.

    The first one is about understanding final stages including death of H&N cancer. 1st link is a bit long, scientific (But undresatndabble). Covers everything Great. 2ND link is much easier to read, but it addresses final months/days for all types of cancer. This is not as usfull as the 1st one. The third link can only be useful to you, if you live in California, Oregon, Washington State or DC, Vermont, Colorado, and Hawai: in these states they allow "Medical Aid in Dying." This is if you want a mecial Dr. to give your father pills to take and have a peaceful death. The 4th link which is worth reading is How an MD dying from cancer views it. Hope this helps some:
