Hi all

 as said above we had a good talk about CA # in all this.

 

 

I found her very logical and she pretty much matched what we've learned about CA#

 

I asked if anyone would ever have a zero reading for this specific Cancer Antigen NO even a perefectly healthy woman will  have a reading & she suspected even testing Wayne could show a reading. -- Wayne asked if there were a # at which she would do a scan NO - she pays far moer attention to symptoms or lack of.

 

 told her I knew logically that there had to be a few cancer cells in my body & she agreed.  then I asked if the symptoms appear if/when they get together to make a tumor. to which ahe answered yes.

 

 

her protocol pretty matches husband's Onc blood doc - treating a e verymild, manageable type of Blood cancer called CLL ( Chronic Lymphocytic leukemia).

 

He goes every 3 months with a new blood count of the screwey,garbage ceks being produced  & athough  he watches the # - he won'[t do chemo again unless his spleen & lymph nodes get fulkl of & inflamed by these cells the body is trying to filter out of the blood.

 

Same feeling as my doc --  unless all the symptoms coime together -- why put your body through chemo hell if not neede?I am to call her immediately if ANY of the symptoms should reapear > then scan if needed.

 

 

I feel good about her approach.   curious--as with most things we all are told.  does this approach  agree with what you have been told?

    My oncologist recommends chemo when the CA125 goes above 30.

    when to do chemo

    Susan,

    This is the philosophy I have adopted with my history of gynecological cancer:  After 5 years of those regular follow ups, which have turned out clear, I've stopped going.  I've decided that, if the cancer returns, I don't want to consider chemo until I have symptoms.  Further, I don't want to know about it until I have symptoms.  I have seen this philosophy elsewhere and that is what works for me.
