Stage 4 is definately a chronic disease. i always maintained that the recurences are harder to handle than the initial diagnosis. this is my third recurrence but i am handling it better than my second. i think my second recurrence was so hard because i was NED for 4 years and still a little naieve. I accepted the fact that it would most likely comeback for the past two years since the last one so I was more prepared for the third recurrence. so now it is time to start training and get back in the boxing rink for round 4.

Jeff, I'm on my fourth reoccurence. I can tell you that chemo has once again come to my rescue. Last April I thought I had the flu, turns out I did and I my cancer came back to my liver and abdomen. I'd lost 25 pounds and I thought for sure it was the beginning of the end. Onc started my on Folfox, did 8 doses and it knock the hell out of the my cancer, granted there are a few spots remaining. Today I'm taking Erbitux/5FU/luecovrin every 3/4 weeks and I'm in a much better place. Quality of life is very good in year 10 since dx! Good to hear you're in fighting mode, you've done this before and I'm sure at the very least you'll get your cancer in check! Take it easy...

Good luck Jeff , it seems that cancer was the easiest part for me. I'm currently battling nephrotic syndrome and taking 300 mg of cyclosporine. Rather ironic because of auto-immune disease I can't have any transplant ,so they treat me with the leading transplant drug. I hope that they can map out a successful battle plan and you wil have many years with your wife and your pets.. Ron.

You've always struck me as
You've always struck me as being quite an interesting guy. But, I must say, I am very impressed by how quickly you've accepted this news and moved forward into fight mode. You must be quite a remarkable individual. I'm glad you have a supportive wife to support you as you go through this next chapter.
I completely understand about hoping for kidney stones. Steve and I were in the ER praying for kidney stones several years ago. In his case it actually turned out to be kidney stones! One of the few times we received "good news" in his three year battle.
Thanks for the updates and continue to stay strong. We're all rooting for you.

No stones. They found a spot on my lung liver and one rib. I am freaked out because my wife doest even know I am in the hospital. I love her so much and dont want to break her heart again. We were so looking forward to this weekend. I was supposed to pick up a baby goat tomorrow and we were so happy about it yesturday.
well, doesn't that just suck eggs. D@mn it!
Okay well, since we're practically floating in the same boat, nothing to do except start the rowing and get away from these pesky tumors.
Fingers crossed, luck wished and here we go...

Thank you all again for all of the support. I already got the ball rolling. I emailed my surgeon and faxed the report to him and send the disc overnight. He said he will look at it with his team Monday.

Oh My!!
Jeff,
I am so sorry that you are in this position.
You are right about feeling that a diagnosis of kidney stones would be good news.
As others have said...I hate this disease too.
Hope that you feel better soon.
Peace,
Art
