OT--I'm incredibly proud of my daughter...
Her fifth grade class was asked by the principal to present something at the next school board meeting that demonstrates what they are doing in class. The teacher has the kids working on "this I believe" essays (modeled after the NPR segments)...anyway my daughter volunteered to read her essay when the school board meeting comes up.
Her essay is about how she believes in determination. And my battle with cancer is her example...it makes me quite proud to know that she has learned this from watching me go through this sh*t. I cried when I read it, and I'm sure I'll cry again when she reads it at the meeting.
Thanks for listening to my brag...
Hugs,
Linda

Linda,
If your daughter is comfortable with it, please ask her if you can post her essay on your expressions page (many folks think the expressions page is just for photos, but there's a tab for "stories" too).
I know reading her thoughts about your journey would be especially meaningful to those here who are mothers -- it sounds as if she's just as proud of you as you are of her.

Your daughter sounds like a wonderful reason to be proud. I'm sure your pride would carry over to each and every one of us who call ourselves "survivors."

Linda,
You should be proud of your daughter. You have done a great job bringing up a compassionate woman who knows what is important in life. I'd love to read it if you ever want to post it.

I am Touched
Linda,
BRAG! BRAG! BRAG! I am right there crying with you. How touching! I also would like to read her essay. We never know how our children react to being raised by us, until something happens or pops up that reveals one thought or statement (of which many more will follow with age). In your daughter's case, it's an essay.
Lots of Hugs,

when our kids do these amazingly incredible valiant things and we get to look at them and think "Wow, you're somebody I like and love.". So much better than "Get your muddy shoes off the couch and stop throwing the remote at your brother."
I'm happy you shared this:)

I love that she gathers her
I love that she gathers her strength from her mother. Last night one sister and I were talking about how much strength we got from oir mother. Amazing when you hear them say it. Brag all you want. This is definitely our goal as a parent, to teach our children and Linda her essay is a beautiful tribute to you as a mother that you are doing a wonderful job. Be proud of yourself as well as your daughter.
Prayers and smiles

I believe your daughter is not only beautiful, but she is a loving and proud child. You are blessed.
The reason I cried is not only because I'm such a crybaby when I hear a beautiful story, but it brought back memories of me when I was 11. My mother had multiple sclerosis. This was back in the day before anyone thought about the psychological welfare of children so much, but my parents did what I consider the right thing. They involved me from the getgo in my mother's illness. And my memories of her are of a positive, and brave young woman who was determined to live large before the phrase was coined. I think I grew up healthy and positive because of her and because I was involved in her life and her illness which was pretty much most of my time with her. When I was 11,I wrote a report on MS. It was about the disease, but it was also about and for my mom. I bet she was very proud of me, too. I never really thought about her perspective before. Thank you.
You have every reason to be proud, Linda. Brag away. You have been blessed to see a side of your daughter some never see. You've obviously done such a good job. Hug her for me.
Love,

intelligent, gentle spirit you have raised. Abby has an idea on who, and what she wants
to become, when she grows up.
Kudos, Miss Linda.
I so enjoy reading the positive impact -- our cancer journey has on our children . Words
say .. so .. much ...
