I have reported this to CSN and tried to send it to Java but they asked so many technical questions I couldn't remember my own name there for a minute. lol. Anywho here is what is happening to me.

Whenever I go into the Chatroom then out of it all of a sudden, on my Desktop items there appears a link or shortcut I didn't put there. It doesn't appear when I login on CSN and only use the Discussion Boards but if I go into the chatroom then out it comes up on my desktop. It's creeping me out.

I erased it dozens of times but it comes back each time I go in and out of the chatroom BUT the number behind the same item name is always the same. It is "hs_err_pid' followed by numbers that change.

On the Java error site they mention a 'hs_err_pid' and call it a bug which doesn't make me feel any more confident.

Like I said I messaged CSN for the techs to check this out and asked one other member of the chatroom and it isn't happening to him. Check your desktops and if you are getting this put on your desktop maybe you should inform CSN as well. No idea what this thing is doing on or to my computer.

Anyone else out there having this happen to them?

I think I figured this problem out if you have it
If you are finding that message or shutcut that says 'hs_err_pid' on your desktop everytime you leave the CSN chatroom I think it's a Java issue that they are investigating by the looks of their info on their site. They don't seem to know if it's bug in old applications that people might still have on their computers or something in the new app of Java that's causing the crash but I finally got rid of it on my desktop.

This is what I did if you have the same problem.

I uninstalled the Java version I had on my computer (you might have an older version) but even if you don't uninstall the new version too just to be safe. Then reinstall the newest version. Go to the official Java Website for instructions on how to do that if you don't know.

Then, and this seems to be the important part, CLEAR YOUR TEMPORARY FILES FROM THE 'TOOLS' COLUMN ON YOUR BROWSER. The Java Website has all the browser names on it like Internel Explorer and Firefox etc. and tells you how to clear the temporary files from each. On Internet Explorer you click tools on the browsers page and then "internet options' then 'delete temporary internet files'. That stopped the hs_err_pid shortcut from being placed on my desktop after I left the CSN chatroom.

I have no idea if this message on our desktops is an issue for privacy or the computer's general health but I don't like things put on my desktop unless I put it there. They were calling it a potential 'bug' in their system so better to get rid of it if we can. Clearing the temporary internet files seems to have removed that from my system though.
