hideeo ho!
Haven't been on in a while so I came on to say Hi! I am in training for a 350 mile mnt bike ride from St George UT to Boulder UT in September. At this point my riding has been spotty due to the heat as well as unusual rain storms here in Colorado, and work seems to get in the way as well but the goal is there! Hope you have a good weekend!

I haven't been on my Mt bike in a long time. That's a heck of a lot of miles to do on a Mt bike, it's like 2-1 ratio to road miles I think. I've taken 2 long road trips on my bike about 25 years ago. Roughly 350 miles each way for each one. One from northern NJ to Ithaca NY (did my personal best of 136 miles in a day) then the following year from northern NJ to Lake Placid. Working vacations as I like to call them but there's nothing like seeing the countryside while biking.
I bought one of the first mass produced Mt bikes (ROSS - Mt Hood model) back in 1984-85 or so. It was way before it caught on. We used to be able to ride everywhere but then came the conflict with hikers and horses. Bikes lost in NJ. So we'd sneak into the mountains and ride anyway. To a mountain biker back then, a "KEEP OUT" sign reads "WELCOME". Sorry for the long post, it just brought back some great memories. I'm not sure my innards can take it now, I'd have to wear a kidney belt of something.
I'm planning on seeing a friend's Blues Band tonight, then swim, maybe kayak tomorrow, then on Sunday hang out with my Mom for a while (then swim more...) I also need to weed my garden. I've gotten 4 nice zucchini's out of it and now have some pink tomatoes. it's looking good this year.0 -
Philly
I am doing the opposite of most folks and leaving the beach for the city. I haven't seen my girlfriend much over the last few busy weekends and will stay with her. We'll probably grab a nice dinner and see a movie or a show.
Hope y'all have a great weekend!0 -
My cruise!
We're leaving on our cruise on Sunday, so Saturday will be getting ready for it, having the people over who are taking care of our cats and dogs, packing last minute stuff, etc.
The cruise is along Baja California, Mexico, with port stops in Cabo San Lucas Tues and Wed and Puerta Vallarta on Thursday. We'll be back in the Long Beach harbor (L.A.) again the following Sunday morning (Aug 7).
So, I'll be off the board until after then & will report back in after we're back!
Have a great weekend and week, everyone!

Nice weather for a change here in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I came home a few days ago from a 3 week stay at the boyfriend and I am planning a weekend with my daughter and granddaughters. Lots of stuff to do here right now because it is a long weekend here. Oldest Granddaughter off to a camping country and Western music weekend. Youngest granddaughter going with a friend to Capitol Ex a sort of Fair and daughter and I off to a market with all kinds of food tasting from around the world.
My first priority as ALWAYS is to find out were the bathrooms are LOL
You all know the feeling.
Enjoy your weekend whatever you do,

I would rather be in philly getting a cheesesteak and a beer than down in the core of the earth burning my rear off in Georgia. AwwW to be in an air conditioned decent museum and a jazz club where the children do not play.0 -
Hey, Rick and I will be
Hey, Rick and I will be taking his kids on a Whale Watch out of Gloucester, MA. He and I and went out last year and spotted about 8 whales - it was great. We also had a small pod of dolphins that played in the boat's wake for most of the trip out and back. It was such fun. :-) Have a great weekend everyone! Cyn0 -

We did a whale watch out of P-Town once year and saw about 20 whales. Even they said it was a very good day. Amazing creatures.
Enjoy...

Stuff!
Tonight was the finale celebration for Vacation Bible School at our church. I was in church of music, so I was dancing and whooping and carrying on tonight. We had an ice cream social, so I ate lots of homemade ice cream. Yummy! After we had our dessert, Bill and I went out to dinner. *grins*
Tomorrow I'm getting a body wrap and then spending most of the day working on a scrapbook for a dear friend from church who will be leaving and going to work at another church. I've organized a surprise party for her and will be giving her the scrapbook at that on Sunday morning.
*hugs*

Good to hear from you Phil! The Blues Band sounds like a great time as well as the kayaking! I have only done a little bit of kayaking but would love to do more. The lake close to me is mainly for boaters and they would find it amusing to swamp a kayak. We have some great places to mnt bike here so if you are ever in the neighborhood I can fix ya up!
