Update on my mom's EC

So, she was staged last week at IIb. Her PET test took place on Wed and yesterday she met with the oncologist for the first time. The oncologist informed her that the PET test revealed a potential issue in her colon as well. They are now scheduling for a colonoscopy and it will be performed first thing on Tuesday. My dad and her were in so much shock.
The oncologist did appear positive overall and for the the ec he is recommending 5-6 weeks of chemo and radiation. Radiaiton will be for 5 days each week. Surgery will be following. That does appear in line with what everyone from the board was advising me her plan of action should be. The surgery is MIE. They are just concerned now with the potential colon issue. I guess we will have to see after Tuesday.
Has anyone had any false positives from the PET test?

Pet scans
Hi,
Pet scans for the most part are a very good guide for the Dr.s. They things can light up that really aren't important but should be checked out and other times the cancer may not light up at all.
Stage 2b is a very good number. Thank God that it was caught early, and from reading your post the Dr.s are from my point of view doing the right thing with they have to check everything out so that know how to proceed.
I hope this helps a little.
God Bless,

I do not know for sure

I do not know for sure about false positives for the PET scan, but can tell you what happened to my dad. His last PET scan came back with a few small areas that "lit up". The surgeon strongly felt that it was a result of ongoing inflammation from the surgery. But, that being said the oncologist wanted to do a run of follow up chemo to make sure. It seems they may disagree??
