Ok, TGIF because Rads is starting to kick my butt. I should lay down and take a nap! It was a great day of zapping today. I actually got a smile and a hand wave from the Doc when I walked in, and he was on the phone (guess I must have broke his concentration!). Giggle...I feel like I am in 12th grade!! I smiled all the way down the hall!!
I was lying there thinking to myself how you can not see a thing and yet there is powerful radiation being aimed at your body. The ONLY way I know it is really working is because I am getting this funky tan over the whole left side of my torso (except the very back). It's actually pretty funny looking. Like I was half unsure about being at a nude beach so I only half undressed!!
Sigh, almost to the halfway point (4 more to go for that!) No need for lotions or creams yet. That's a good thing. But I have my list from all of you as soon as I get the OK to start using them. :(-) Pammy

    It went to my back
Pammy, by the end of rads, my left shoulder was tanned! Very weird, the invisible world of radiation. Light and particle theory are all magic to me. Same as how in the world do cell phones and wireless computers work?!? I just have to take it on faith. ; ) Yes, take a nap! Your body needs that rest. xoxoxo Lynn

I am only surprised that you
I am only surprised that you said no need for lotions yet; do you mean that you haven't been using lotion since day one??? Hmmmmmmm....just wondering!

    Have a great weekend!

    I asked, they said "no"
They said do not use ANYTHING. I was surprised at this but my Rad Onc said he needs me to trust him on this, so here I am waiting for the OK. My skin seems to be fine right now. They usually check me on Tuesdays, so maybe they will start me on something then? I will ask again. :(-) Pammy

I'm with our 50 ft woman,
I'm with our 50 ft woman, you haven't been using lotion? They might never actually tell you to begin. Start now, today. Just make sure it is off before your treatments. You are cooking from the inside out, like a microwave. You can be well done before you realize it. And especially use lotions now that you are seeing the results. It's like being out in the sun too long. You don't see the burn right then, but a few hours later, OUCH!! Don't wait for ouch. If you are unsure about using the lotions now, call and ask if it is okay. I am sure they will say, YES. Don't want a french fried Pammy.
I am sure others will chime in with similar advice.

    Surprised
My center handed out Aquafor like candy. I slathered it on at least 3 times a day (just not before rads). My skin never did burn very badly, and I am light-skinned. xoxoxo Lynn

    Same for me, Pammy...
Although there were literally bowls everywhere full of Aquaphor products for the taking by the handfuls (pocketfuls, pursefuls)...

My rad onc gave me strict instructions to NOT use anything until she gave the OK. Yes, I got checked each week - on Mondays - by the rad onc. And daily by the techs - who would have alerted her, if needed, in between.

    Kind regards, Susan

Glad they are keeping a eye
Glad they are keeping a eye on you but still if you see or feel anything that indicates the least bit of burning tell them and ask them. Glad you got a laugh from the French Fried, I debated between that and Deep Fat Fried but that sounded downright insulting.

    Happy Birthday Monday. My
Happy Birthday Monday. My best friend in the whole world (other than hubby) is born on that day. She is going to 55. Good people seem to be born on that day. And for her August is just a busy birthday month. 4 of her 6 grandkids are born under the sign of Leo and so is my Granddaughter (we share our grandchildren) and her dad's is August also. Busy time.
Have a great weekend and have a great birthday. Rock the house.

Hmmm... A long time ago for me...
Had 35 total rads. All standard, no boosters. I think it was the second to the last week, when I developed a small not-too-bad (but, it did hurt, for sure!) burn, where breast meets chest, in the fold. For me, the Aquaphor worked great. Thereafter, I wasn't allowed to apply it before the treatments (had to be clean - showered each morning), but could slather on as much as I wanted afterwards.

Hope it'll be no worse for you, Pammy.

    Kind regards, Susan

P.S.: That chimp REALLY needs to see a dentist! :-)
