    Chemo Brain Poetry
    CHEMO BRAIN

There's no such thing as chemo brain!
    They'd like us to believe
But simple words spelled wrong and thoughts stuck in my head
    All lead me to disagree!

    A normal conversation
    I cannot complete
For halfway through the chemo fog sets in
It's like my brain waves hit delete!

I write myself a thousand notes
To get through my work day
But half the time I look at them
And wonder what the heck I was trying to say!

    I've forgotten all my passwords
No longer pay bills on time
Can't even access my bank accounts,
Favorite web sites or school notes on line!

Some of us have hot rollered our bald heads,
Others gave orange juice to the cats
Some looked for beer in their clothes dryer
Now I could drink to that!!

No longer do I fear senility
    For when my memory cells begin to wane;
    I will just keep smiling
And blame it on chemo brain!!!

    Hope it made you smile!

That's awesome!Seriously,I don't know if you all would want to do it or not,but it would be great if you would collaborate and put together a breast cancer book of poems either just for us or for ACS and they could sell it...or not! I just think you guys are incredibly talented!!

    Poetry
This whole breast cancer experience literaly had me writing for my life. The responses gave me the courage to get published and my book is in the member resource library. There are many talented writers on this site and I encourage all of you to publish your poetry, you aren't just helping yourselves, you help so many others that then know they are not alone in these feelings.

    Love it LadyDi
I love your poem! It is all sooooo true! I work in an administrative position at a university and we have a lot of security codes. I can't tell you how many times I've put the wrong number in ... a wonderful way to meet the campus police as they run in thinking there's been a break-in. Or what is better is when I walk up to one of the security pads and just stare at it ... without a clue what number goes in it.

I'm really afraid that one day I might really forget my way home ... REALLY !!!!

    hugs.

Well ... I just hit the "post" button and re-posted the above post ... and then saw I'd already hit it once. See ... I already forgot that I'd already hit the "post comment" button ...

I really think they're going to come take me away any time now ... and put me in a "safe place" ... maybe detention. LOL

    hugs.

Hugs, I so know what you are feeling. I did burst into tears one day when I couldn't remember my home address and my friends had a big laugh when I was telling a story and couldn't remember my husband's name, it's intermittent for now so I don't think they are quite ready to have me carted off. On a positive note I volunteered here in CA for a study done by Stanford University on the cognitive effects of breast cancer and chemo. I go this Wed. for a brain MRI and 4 hours of tests to start the study and am praying they don't recommend a trip to OZ to see the Wizard after! I'll let you know...

    I just call it
"Chemo brain without the chemo." Because let me tell you ladies, this happens all the time to me and it's SO darned frustrating! It's like I KNOW the word but I just can't access that part of my brain to say it.

I used to attribute it to age and stress...but now maybe I should just say that my brain tissue was somehow connected to my breast tissue, and when they removed my breasts, some of my intelligence went along with them?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I was going to say something else, but I just can't think of it right at the moment...geez, what was it?????
