Dear Friends,

I am fine. No side effects from IP/IV. I start Cycle 4 of 6 Cycles this. I will update as necessary.

I have not posted because my computer crashed. I am on a friend's computer.

Best love to all.

Connie ( aka starfish now paris11).

I missed you. Hope you get the big crash fixed. I love starfish and Paris. My favorite is the Muse"Dorsei (spelling!) and be sure to have lunch there. The room is so beautiful.

Connie good to hear from you
Glad you are doing well with your treatments. It sure gives encouragement to those of us who may have to go through the same thing. Thanks for keeping us informed. In peace and caring.

Maggie, Diane, Mary Ann, Linda, Ro and all WARRIORS
Thank you for your continuing support. Your love and support has given me the motivation and the will to continue with IP.

"Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Magee-Womens Hospital of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh PA, 15213, USA
    Received 3 August 2009. Available online 2 December 2009.
    Abstract
    Objective
"Combination intravenous/intraperitoneal (IV/IP) chemotherapy has been shown in three randomized trials to be superior to IV therapy alone in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer with respect to overall survival (OS)."

I am hunbled and grateful that I have been able to successfully tolerate the IP treatment. I have no idea why I have been so blessed. "I live the question." I do know that our Warriors' goal and the goal of many brilliant and dedicated oncologists is to advance the acceptance of IP/IV chem in an outpatient setting. I am honored to be included in the trials. I do not wear a wig or a scarf. My bald head is my "badge of courage".

As you know, I have given a lot of thought to IP/IV. If I encounter any difficulties with treatment, I will post. Otherwise, I will post a summation of my experience with IP/IV at he end of Cycle 6. Monday, October 18, I receive IP/IV infusion Cycle 4. Today my body is strong. My mind is strong. Tomorrow I will draw on the strength of My Warriors. I will draw on the strength of the Chilean Miners. And I (we) will be "great".

Thank you for your love. Right back at ya'.

    badge of courage
    connie,

so glad treatment is going so well, and on an out-patient basis yet!; some things just work out. who can possibly figure for these things ? love your bald "badge of courage," i bet it looks good on you, too. yes, our combined strength here is indeed awesome, as is/ was the strength of the chilean miners, and, i have to add, that of the wife who discovered the mistress while husband was down in the mines; "i'm glad he's alive, i'm just not interested in being there (when he comes up." she said. good on her! lots of different kinds of women warriors....

will be especially thinking of you tomorrow, connie.

partner and i are headed to ashland, oregon wednesday for 5 nights for the shakespeare festival, and other plays--some of the best productions i've seen anywhere in the world. it's hard, however, to think of being without my computer for that long, so will probably bring it along so will be able to stay in touch with my sisters.

    hugs, and sisterhood,

    Missing my Warriors !!
    Good morning to all,

This time my Mac crashed for good. I am at a friend's. I will have to catch up on all the news.

As for me, I have completed 5 Cycles of IP/IV Chemo. I have one Cycle remaining. The only side effects have been fatigue on Day 4/5. I would definitely consider IP if it were offered to me. I would also go with an outpatient program. I am certain that reiiki and accupuncture have been key. But my stalwart warriors put me over the finish line. I will post after I purchase a new Mac. Probably after Christmas.

    Love to all,

    Connie

Connie congratulations on completing the 5th cycle
Only one more to go. Hurrah! I am so glad you have tolerated everything so well. The fatigue is not great I am sure, but gives you a chance to rest and relax. You are truly a Brave Warrior. wishing you a good 6th treatment, too.

Sorry to hear about the computer crash. It is frustrating when the computers do not respond the way you want. Hope you are able to post on a friend's computer again, before you get a new computer. We love to hear from you. In peace and caring.

    TO ALL THE INCREDIBLE WARRIORS...
    My dear friends,

We have accomplished so much. Our courage and resolve is unknown except to us. But there is such a great distance ahead. I just finished The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Mukherjee. I am astonished by what we have endured.

I completed 6 cycles IP/IV on December 13. For today, I am cancer free. Northwestern now offers outpatient IP/IV to all women who qualify. I have met several women who are tolerating this treatment quite well. I am happy that I went with IP/IV. My profound thanks to all who helped me with a most difficult decision. I am hopeful that more women will be treated successfully with this regimen.

The blizzard in Europe has delayed my celebration in Paris. (HARDLY A CONCERN).

I will be signing off for a while. I must sort through this cancer story. The "standard of care" is unacceptable.

    Blessings to all,

    Starfish

so many congratulations on completing your 6 cycles ip/iv, and especially with so little side effects. testimony to your physical and emotional fortitude. couldn't be happier for you that you are now cancer free. how sweet that is. sorry your paris trip has been delayed; i had posted an earlier au revoir to you, thinking you must have left already, but what's a blizzard or two, when you've gone through what you have. here's hoping the weather complies, and you're on your way to sparkling paris for the holidays. have a wonderful time, don't forget your sisters back home, as if you would, when you raise your champagne glass. we'll be thinking of you.
