White counts still low, but good enough for chemo tomorrow!

I went for labs today so i wouldn't have to go all the way to the farther office where I get my chemo, just to be sent home again, if my counts were too low. They are finally coming back up. They are still really low considering it has been 4 weeks since the last chemo. I'm glad they are high enough I can get back to fighting those cancer cells to chase them all out.

About 2/3 of my hair gone now. Even with only one FOLFIRI treatment 4 weeks ago, it continues the fall out. My daughter commented tonight on a couple obvious bald spots now. It won't be long. With this next treatment, I expect within 2 weeks for it all to be gone.

This time I'm ready - I know I can take my peri-colace for the first week. And I'm not messing around with Imodium when that diarrhea hits next time - straight to the Lomatil, as it really did the job when Imodium could not.

I had a wonderful weekend enjoying the fall colors and fanstastic weather here. I'm recharged and ready to get back in battle!

I finally got my scans and reports sent off to Duke for a second opinion. I'm curious to see what they think.

I am glad to hear that your white counts are bouncing back, for sure I know how you feel, it happened to me 2 or 3 times and it was so frustrating, while I was waiting at the chemo place for lab results and I was feeling like I was wating for a lottery ticket to win the opportunity to get my chemo, can you imagine?
I can feel that you have your fighting spirit back and strong, and that is very good.
    Praying for you,
    Betina

    Good!
    Kathryn,

I am glad your count is high enough for chemo. Your spirit is strong; just what is needed. Good luck!

With regards to your hair still falling out even though you haven't had chemo for ~ a month, my onc told me chemo stays in the system for a month. SO the chemo is likely still working. My understanding is that 2 weeks is the minimum length of time they can allow between treatments.

It's good to hear the positive post from you! I know you've been really bummed about delays, you want to just get on with the fight already! We're a funny bunch when we are happy to be getting the meds we know will get us feeling like crap, but we do what we have to! That's smart not wasting time on the Imodium, moving right to the lomotil. I never wasted time with imodium, not much time with lomotil, i usually had to move right onto the hyoscyamine, which i believe is levsin. I hope this treatment goes well for you and there are no more delays! As far as the hair goes, you'll be glad when you are no longer picking up hair from all over your pillow and everywhere else! It's getting to be good hat weather!
