CB passed away on Monday night at 9:28pm. I am now laying in bed with our granddaughter sleeping beside me. I didn't know it would happen tonight, but several friends commented earlier in the day that I sounded good. I advised them that I had shut down emotionally because I knew this day was coming and I couldn't continue feeling the way I had. When we got the call, we went to be with him. Several family and friends met us there and we just sat with him, held him, and told him goodbye. I will post more in the coming days, but I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the support and advice over the last 14 months.

    Yes, she is definitely comforting me tonight. Usually, we don't let her sleep with us, but tonight I just knew there was no way I could rest without her. I think I will be relying on her alot in the coming weeks. With help from the hospice, we told her on Sunday that Papa was going to go to sleep and not wake up. She told me she would be very sad, and she would cry. Earlier in the day she told me that Papa was a genius. I asked why she said that, and she told me that Papa knew everything about everything! Don't know where that came from, but she was absolutely correct. CB really was a very smart man. I will miss him dearly.

    Wow- and on Memorial Day. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know you're numb now- I'm glad CB had all his loved ones around him when he passed on.

    You and your family are in my thoughts. It is good to have a child around with such a tremendous loss. How beautiful that she shared her admiration and love of her Papa with you. I am sorry for your loss. Holding you in the light.

    For children! they are so comforting when you think everything is tumbling around you..when I get upset, that's the first thing I do is go find one of my kids who around to come comfort me, and I feel so much better. They just have this way to make you see things in a whole new way.

    My sincerest sympathy for you and your family, I know how hard it is to lose a loved one. But memories keep them alive, and one day, you will be together again :)
