    Hmmm

    True Lies

Wait, I'm thinking of a different author!
I agree that you should write it first, the title will come to you.
It's story driven not title driven.

    Your Book Title
I'm with everyone else on this Craig. I think this is a great idea.

I really like your notion of "An Introspective Journey..."

    INTROSPECTIVE...
In your sharing here you have looked deep within your soul, at all of the struggles and dilemmas, as well as the joys and delights. You have "boldly gone where no man has gone before", to explore the inner landscape of fear and loneliness, as well as that of friendship and compassion. You have shared the wisdom of this "inner-seeing" with us with incredible vulnerability and authenticity. The inner work is the hard work. You are doing it. And because of your sharing it, you invite us to it.

    JOURNEY...
You present your story naturally as that of a "journey". Your profile page is "The Journey Continues..." This is a rich and meaningful metaphor and a refreshing alternative to the more common "war/battle" imagery that is so overused. This is NOT to say we don't have demons and battles along the way. Of course we do. They just happen in the larger context of our lives, which are more like journeys, than wars. The journey theme really resonates with who you are Craig. You talk about where you have been, where you are today, and where you are going. (even when you don't know how you are getting there!! :):)

So, I really hope you will keep those two pieces.

I think the title will evolve Craig, as the book does.

I really like all of the suggestions here too!! What a creative crew!
And I definitely want an autographed copy too!

    Happy trails... Rob; in Vancouver

    Thanks So Much!
Really some good stuff in this thread - been a pleasure to read through these. Some funny ones have made me laugh and grin, and there are some good titles and some thought behind the other ones.

I'm starting to agree with you guys - as Phil eluded to, content 1st, title 2nd. Normally, I can come up with something pretty good, but I'm going to have to think this one through.

It's been great having your suggestions and comments - a little levity is always good for the family.

But, as always, I'll be taken everything you said to heart. I'm in the planning phase, so I'll go back to working on the ideas for what the chapters will be about.

I wonder how it will all turn out, but the chase for it is surely going to be a ride:)

    OH MY GOSH!
I am so happy that you are considering this book idea. Sounds like a real plan and I will be so proud to read it. I wish I could give an opinion on the title for this book, but I don't think anything I submit would compare to what you've already been given. I agree with the thought that you should make it a "catchy" title, tho. Nothing that sounds like it's written by a professional as in dr.,nurse or onc. Just a regular guy who got cancer.

Now when do you see that dr. again? I think it's coming up, isn't it?

    WRITE THE BOOK FIRST,
the title will come to you at some point,as an "aha" moment!
Please do not put the word 'poop' in the title,
only 9-12 year old boys will want to read it.
Good luck, I think you'll do fine.

    "I ain't dead yet"
or with a more positive spin "Still Here" though Ram Dass has also written a book with that name. I highly recommend it. Hilarious and poignant.

    Craig!
    Hi Craig,

I just realized, as I was scrolling down this thread today, that I never did reply to you. I thought I had, but I guess I just thought it and never actually typed it (I've been known to do that- easily distracted, I guess- lol!) Anyhow, I am SO glad you are writing a book!! I am really excited about it for you!
I like the Craigslist suggestion, but don't know if you could use that without copyright issues or something. It would get people's attention though.
I like your Beast Within idea, too. Sorry I don't have any other ideas on a title.
I think it would be cool to have one of the chapters be a grouping of several people's real stories- maybe people here from the board who would agree to have their stories or situations included. It could give people out there fighting some hope to hear of others who are fighting and have been several years into the fight, defying the odds and statistics.

Keep us posted on this, Craig!!! I'll be first in line to buy a copy!

    Hugs,
    Lisa

Hope you have fun writing your book. As far as the title, I agree with some of us here that it will reveal itself to you as you are writing the book, chapter by chapter, sentence by sentence, word by word. And like any storyteller, you will take your/our words, experiences and turn them into something living and wonderful.
The creative process is a very cool thing, be it writing, music, dance, (verbal) storytelling, designing a room, painting rocks!
Take it with a grain of salt -- some words/thoughts that come to mind, titles - maybe, maybe not: "A Survivor's Tale," "No One Invited the Beast" - (but it came anyway...unannounced, uninvited),...again, have fun, Craig.
And keep us posted, as much as you want to anyway.
Sometimes, when writing, it could be a very private thing too. Until one's ready to share.

    Oh well.

I thought you'd go with the "CraigsList" one, but.....

    How about:

"Hindsight" A look into my wrecked rectum.

"No Butts About Us" Tails from the past.

"No Passing" A new world without the crap.

"My rear view of life" A book about my half-assed situation.

"The Rectum Whisperer" Words cannnot make up for waste.

"Shortened exits" Intestinal fortitude at it's best.

    Gee Craig, your comment:
"Hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew"
was reminescent of Marv Albert's famous situation. In a slightly
    different context, of course....

I'll stop now..... my head hurts.

    made me laugh
John I read these titles to my husband, because he asked what I was laughing about. I don't share too much that I read on here or when I ask for advice. thanks for giving us a laugh. margaret
