Follow up visit tomorrow

Tomorrow is Jesse's followup visit with the urologist. His DaVinci prostatectomy was last Tuesday. Hopefully will 'pass' cystogram and get catheter out. Will post tomorrow evening. Wish him luck!

    Take the snake and the cath
    Take the snake and the cath bag and stomp on them at least 3 times once they are removed for good luck measure.

    CATH IS OUT!
    Cath is out. Did well with voiding trial. A little dribbling today but nothing bad per him. Since we have already met our out of pocket, urology gave him a manual pump with no co-pay! Also got free samples of cialis.
    OK so we got the complete operative report and pathology reports.
    Turns out that from previous gallbladder surgery, (which was laparoscopic) he had a lot of adhesions present; they had to cut them away from the bowel. So that was a huge bonus - sorta like a two-for-one surgery! Also explains why he has had a lot of bowel sluggishness since the surgery, they had to 'mess' a lot with his bowels, more than a typical surgery.
    Pathology: At biopsy, only one of 12 samples were positive for cancer. Per the path report we got today from the surgery, it was in left anterior quadrant and right posterior quadrant. And I'm not sure, but it says "closest distance with location: 0.5mm, right posterior margin." I guess that is the closest the cancer was to the surgical margin? Feel free to jump in here!
    At any rate, it was classified pT2c.
    Just glad it is out and GONE!

    Great news that the pathology report said T2C which means it did not escape and from what you wrote it appears that the .05 was how close the margin to becoming a positive reading but you are negative……but the scary thing is that your biopsy was a T1 and unless you get surgery you never know what you really have…like me I was a clinical T2B and my pathology said T3B…big difference…This is opne of the reasons I had surgery just to know what I was really dealing with...

    Please post the actual report highlights when you get them...

    Glad to hear the news on the Path report. I was also given the pT2c but WITH a positive margin.

    Now you know for sure that you did the right thing in having the surgery even though there was only one of 12 samples found at biopsy time. I think many forget that the biopsy is just a blind test where they shoot the needle in and see what they can find. Obviously the cancer was in more areas since found in both the right and left quadrants.

    Also the little dribbles should clear up as time goes on. Give Jesse our congrats!
