A strong cold front with limited moisture will move across the service territory on Wednesday night and Thursday. An area of light snow will spread across all of our region in association with the front. Total liquid accumulation from this front will average between 0.1” and 0.2”. A typical snow ratio is 10” per one inch of liquid, but the arctic air mass over the service territory is extremely dry. This could yield a ratio of 15:1 or greater which would yield snow fall in the 1-4” range across almost all of the service region. There is little likelihood of issues with the TVA system from this storm. The primary issue will be with travel and this will mainly occur where the higher snowfall amounts occur. The main band of snow will enter the service territory from the west late Wednesday night and exit the service territory in the east late Thursday. The cold front will usher in the coldest temperatures of the season for the weekend. Some forecast amounts for cities across the service region:

Paducah 3-5”

Nashville 2-4”

Knoxville 2-4”

Tri Cities 2-4”

Memphis 1-3”

Huntsville 1-3”

Chattanooga around 1”

    Us too
We're south of those towns listed, but have been told to expect 1-3" of snow. I love snow and would love to get 8".

A fireman friend said he was in the grocery store and people are going crazy buying bread and milk. We have NO snow plow/ sanding type equipment.

    That's what they told us
That's what they told us here in Montana to expect too...but so far there's 6" on the ground and still snowing heavily....getting very cold as well..nearing zero already. I expect that anywhere East of Montana will be in for a major blizzard very soon.

    More Snow Predicted
Here in Kansas City they are predicting another 4" -6" of snow. We already have about six inches of snow on the ground left over from the Christmas blizzard. Friday wind chills of 30 below are anticipated. Saturday the low is supposed to be -12 and the HIGH will be -1. This is much colder than normal and they are predicting blizzard-like conditions.

I can't stand this cold weather. I grew up in the Midwest, moved to Alabama for 22 years, then came back here 18 years ago. I want warm weather and I want it now. This weather is utterly ridiculous.

    Snow
I dread the snow but as long as it lets me travel on Sat. it can come. I am closer to Knoxville and have to work Sat. night. Have no time off since I used it all this past year for surgery and chemo so I have to show up.
