Do Something Nice for Yourself

A post about the joy felt at decorating for the holiday made me think that we ALL really need to be in the habit of doing nice things for ourselves. No matter how small they are they bring a brightness to your day.

My sister and I share December as a birthday month...10 days apart though I am 4 years older...55 and 59.

Today my 80 year old mother took us to mid-birthday breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

We spoke about my cancer, my sister's trigeminal neuralgia and mother's upcoming hernia surgery. (OMG...we've become THOSE people)

Though I think I trumped the hand when I made the comment that I was picturing my now lone vagina like one of those plastic collapsible travel cups. (the lady at the next table almost choked on that one.)

It was a great morning of talking & laughter...they may be family, but I dearly love those 2 women.

What nice thing did you do for yourself today?

    Having a Happy Day!
Outlaw Josie.....How interesting you made this post today. Several times today I have commented about how happy I feel today.....in fact, I feel GREAT! My restorative Yoga class was extra special today and set the stage for the day. Then I went to a movement and relaxation class with a very nurturing instructor....hmmmm...more feel good!

Then came home and started decorating for the Holidays and having a glass wine!!!

I am still smiling and content! You are SOOOO right....we have to take good care of ourselves and have fun!

Thanks, Karen...we need to be good to us.

How did you decide on restorative yoga and how soon did you begin? I was speaking to a very actvie yoga buff friend before I had surgery and she mentioned it. I need to let the surgical incision heal, but it's something I'm looking into. Anything to help my body help itself. And, if it's financially feasible, a good thing I will do for myself.

I'm glad you feel so good...so vital...today. Thank you for sharing it.

The Mr. and I will be headed out later...mostly homebits needing purchase, but it will be my first "shopping" trip since surgery Nov. 17th. I'm hoping to get maybe an early dinner out of the deal as well.

Good onya for the half day off.

Glad I could give you a little giggle...we need giggles, yanno?

Go out there and make it a good one.

I took beginner's Yoga classes and had difficulty with doing the poses. My strength, flexibility and balance were NOT good. As the classes progressed I became rather frustrated and was not particularly enjoying Yoga. The instructor suggested that Restorative Yoga might be better for me. Since that particular studio doesn't offer restorative, she referred me to another Yoga Studio. I just LOVE it! I am in a Restorative/Level 1 class now and am challenged but yet can have a sense of accomplishment. The class is very small (about 5-6) so we have lots of individual attention. The instructor uses LOTS of props and makes sure we don't go beyond our abilities. In addition to flexibility and strength, it is SOOO relaxing! I feel very pampered when I leave there and wouldn't give it up for anything!
