    signet ring
I have signet ring cell colon cancer, diagnosed in May 08. I was stage IIIC with lots of nodes. I finishded treatment in 11 08' and I'm still NED. I know it's frustrating and hard having something so uncommon, and the bits and pieces you pick up on the internet are the worst! How are you doing?

    Pat,
    Thanks for asking. He

    Pat,

Thanks for asking. He has pretty much completely healed from the surgery. He has had 2 rounds of chemo and did fine with them. The side effects were worse with the 2nd treatment than the first. He had more sensitivity to the cold and developed mouth sores. We got the Magic rinse mouthwash and it is working great. The only real and frustrating problem so far has been that he is having pain above the port. They did a port dye study and every thing is working like it is supposed to but doesn't explain the pain. I had to take him to the ER on Tuesday night because of the pain and the advice of the oncologist. They ran blood tests, xrays, and an EKG. There is nothing to explain the pain he is having. It is not infected or anything. The pain is so severe at times he falls out in the floor. They kept him overnight but nothing to explain the pain. He regular doc thinks maybe muscle spasms and increased the muscle relaxers and upped the pain medication. These are not working as the pain is still occuring and still as strong. Not sure what to do because they can't explain it. Tonight he had a little blood after going to the bathroom and having a bowel movement. We are keeping an eye on this to see if it happens again. I have a feeling we may be driving on into the bigger city to their hospital before the weekend it over. I hope not but not sure what else to do right now.

    How are you doing?

Thanks for being here to talk to.

    Amy,I am sorry your husband
Amy,I am sorry your husband is having problems with his port. That must really be painfull for him, Tell him to hang in there and be strong. I know first hand how bad the chemo is for him. I just finished my fourth round this week and am starting to feel better. It seems I have hit a brick wall on finding anymore information on signet ring cell, Maybe it's better I don't look anymore, when I don't think about it I feel like I don't even have cancer. Amy where is your husband getting his treatments at? I am doing mine here in st louis at siteman cancer center, They are treating me very good. Amy you can talk to me anytime you want to, It really does help to talk to other people that are going through this. How old is your husband and what is his name?

    Pat, I have not really
Pat, I have not really looked for information on the signet ring cell since he was first diagnosed. Just been trying to do things together and not worry too much. He has his 3rd treatment on Tuesday if they will do it and we aren't in the hospital. My husband is getting his treatments here in our home town in Tennessee we live in a rural area. Our doctor comes from the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN. They treat us very well and we are very pleased with the doctor, his staff, the treatment center and the treatment thus far. Reading posts on this board and talking to people here really helps me make it through the days. My husband's name is James he is 47 and will be 48 in December. I however am only 31 and overwhelmed.

Amy, you hang in there too,
Amy, you hang in there too, People seem to overlook the caregivers and what they are going through, My wife Carrie is 38 11 years younger than me and she is also overwhelmed with everything that is happening. All you can do is be there for him as I am sure he would be there for you. It sounds like you are pretty happy with your Dr. and that is good. You tell James that I am pulling for him and I will say a prayer for him everynight. Also tell him he has a friend on his side and we will beat this monster together I am sure of that.

    hi all
my husband was just dx with signet ring on 9/15/09 -- we are just starting our journey on this :(

his surgery is next saturday.... clinical staging is at III, but we dont know to what extent and are still holding out for stage II.

would love to email you Amy, as a caregiver, i'm completely lost and freaking out.

my hubby is 43, i'm 41 -- we believe his is tied to HNPCC -- he lost a father and brother to colon cancer and this was caught in a screening.

hope u are able to respond soon

    thanks
