    Me
I won't go into the God part, everyone did a great job here, but I honestly think that wine got me cancer. I loved having a glass or two of wine in the evening, and sometimes I would break out in a rash, it could be a mild and rash only on my face or it could be one drink and immedialty it would go to my face, chest, back, legs....I would take a benadryl and stop drinking it. One day my husband made a comment about the wine, that it couldn't be good for my body or my immune system. So I cut back to weekends only...well about a week later, I was diagnosed with cancer. There isn't an cancer in my family, my gradma is alive and 99 years old, she had 15 kids, no cancer, my mom had 9 kids and I got cancer. I was really a vegan, always had shied away from meat, fat, and sweets. I was happy with a plate of veggies and still am.

So, guess what.......no more wine, I miss a glass. The picture of the Margarita in my hand is wishful thinking and staged, it belonged to my friend or sister. I am allergic to all alchohol.

    Thank you all
and sorry Winnie for stealing your topic. I didn't mean to get it started on me. I really appreciate all the posts and expressions of faith and hope. Believe me I hear all this a lot from my family my parents, my parents-in-laws and my friends who haven't given up on God the way my husband and I have. I might have given a wrong impression about me, though. I am very upbeat regarding this cancer. I can have my doctor tell me he's not trying to cure me, just keep me comfortable for later and when he says I won't be around in three years. I don't believe him. I only believe that if I keep feeling this good, able to do what I can do and feel like I feel, the doctor doesn't know what he's talking about. I have had three days with about 6 hours of sleep yesterday, so I was kind of depressed. But usually I'm really upbeat about things and the one my kids and husband turns to for a laugh during this time.

Again, thanks again for all your caring,
    Debbie

I just think that's horrible that your "doctor" tells you that you won't be around in three years. Doe he have money riding on this???
Don't believe him because he is talking out of his you-know-what. No one knows how you will react to your treatments and YOU have the most control over how well you do. This is 90% attitude and the other half good medicine. If you don't care for your "doctor", find one who isn't betting on you being around in three years.

Wait, I have an idea, tell him you will pay your bills in 5 years and see what he says.
I bet he'll give you an extension!
    :-)
    hang in there

    Funny, Phil
The way my insurance is paying, it will be five years before he gets his first payment, anyway.
I've read the statistics on my particular kind of cancer and going for five years will be an outstanding achievement.
Believe me, though, when I say no matter what the doctor says, I won't give up. I have an eighteen month old granddaughter born at l lb. 10 oz. still alive, well, and strong today. The doctors, when she was born, didn't even give her two weeks. I know what fighting can do and I intend to fight with all my might and with the help of my family. With or without this doctor.

    Thanks,
    Debbie

    :- )
Debbie, your comment about the insurance is even funnier!

Statistics are so outdated. I should have been dead a while ago and I don't think I am (?). There's good information on the internet, and bad information on the internet. It's hard to sort it out but don't go by that 5% 5 year survival stuff.

That is GREAT about your granddaughter. You'll probably see her graduate college and have babies and all.

    Grandbabies
    Hi Debbie,

I'm one of the other Debbie's on the forum. I use gramma debbie to distinguish between us. I'm so sorry to hear all th at you have been going thru. I just wanted to tell you that I know how much those grandbabies can make us fight. I have 6 now and they are all as special as the first. They bring me such joy and their little smiles can brighten the worst of days. I know when I was in the hospital and they would come to visit and when chemo had me down they kept me hopeful of recovery.

I read your post about God and certainly understand it and am not judgemental at all. I am a Christian and will pray for you if thats ok. Life sure can throw us some curve balls. When you get down, you just think about that precious little grandbaby and it will strengthen you.

    Peace and Strength to you,

    Debbie (gramma)

I recently learned that native Hawaiians LOVE SPAM. They have SPAM festivals and places on the beaches where you get fried SPAM. So let's see...they give up pineapples and we gave them SPAM.

    spam
Spam is something that caught me completely by surprise when we moved to Hawaii. We have lived here 10 years and I have managed to not try it once. Yes, I have gone hungry at some parties but.......
    Aloha,

    Meat
    Winney,

I eat red meat so you can send it to me! Seriously, I think that was a thoughtful gift and I would be happy to accept it graciously.

    Kimby

PS. My new neice is named Winney, born 7/29/09.
