Well today is my day to wait. I have to go to the hospital for blood work and then tomorrow at 8:30 I start my chemo. It is -17 degrees and i keep thinking how cold it will feel. You know the really stupid thing I am afraid of....I have this vision of the oxy going in and then having like a big toxic re-action to it. Or they won't be able to find a vein that will stand up....poke poke poke. I got through 6 rounds of 5fu before it's toxicity just did me in so I am probably just anticipating that kind of reaction. Sorry, shouldn't be whining.....so many of you out there doin the same thing

OK gotta hold of the rope.....here we go off to hospital
Hugs to all.

Mags

    Good luck
Here's hoping the chemo goes well and that there won't be
intense side effects. Sometimes they will decrease and then gradually increase
the dosage so the side effects are less intense; they did that
for me this last time and I seemed to tolerate it better.

ahhhh thanks dixchi. I love the decrease then increase idea.....I have always had it upside down and start high then decrease. I like your idea way better.

    You're tough!
You will get through and you will be looking back on it GLAD it is over! We know it sucks big time, but we are also stronger for having come through it. Just keep showing the beast you AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT NO MORE! Take care and let us know how it goes.

    Diamond Girl
    Hi Mags,

If you have a diamond anything, wear it! Every time you get anxious, tell yourself that you are as tough as a diamond and no chemo can get to you! Ah, I know you're anxious, and it's natural after what you've been through. We're all pulling for you and praying for minimal side effects.

    Hugs,
    Kirsten

Ahhh thanks Mary and Kirsten. I do have a little diamond ring that was my mom's and I will definitely wear it tomorrow. What's wrong with a little talisman....I'll just give it a rub///
Mary keep those photos of the baby girl comin...she is so beautiful.

I wonder if anyone else uses a Good Luck Charm

    Good Luck!
I get my first chemo as well very soon, and the dr. said there are nurses there who will be watching you all like a hawk, the dr. even prescribed me anti-nausea pills now so I could take one before I even get there. Just let the nurses know if you need anything, especially for nausea, and they should get it right to you.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes! I'm praying for you! I don't have a good luck charm, but I love pandas, and will be bringing my big stuffed panda to come and sit with me while I get this done :)

    Totally understand your worries
I am allergic to a large variety of drugs. I was sure the oxaliplatin would be my undoing.

Magically, no allergic reaction at all, not to the oxali, leucovorin or 5FU. The oxali - did make me tired, etc. But no allergic reaction.

    I gather you don't have a port.

Best of luck, I'll guess you will do just fine. Your anxiety is perfectly normal.

i bring my mother with me to every treatment (her small urn is always tucked in the bag with my knitting) and I wear a sweater she wore when she worked as a nurse (it even has her name on the tag!).
