    praying
I am new to the sight but have read Hops Caring Bridge and have kept updated today. Prayers going out to you for the next few days as Hop recovers. My husband has his surgery on January 27. Your family is obviously a beautiful and supportive family. Amen to your 3 answers to prayer.
    Aloha,

    CAPTAIN'S UPDATE
Ok....they just took Hop down to surgery at 0930....had given himm some "happy meds", so he wasn't suffering...Nurse Leision (sp) just came out and told me they put him to sleep at 0935. More later

    Caregiver Too!
I'm new to this web site. I have been reading the message boards and this is a great support group which I need at times.
My husband too, has cancer, has had numerous surgeries and now mets to liver and some more lymph nodes. It IS a long journey, but you have to take a day at a time. That was very hard for me, but thats what has to be done. I can't even begin to tell you what all we have been through and he shouldn't even be here. Doctors are amazed at how he is doing and responded. He has colerectal cancer but at Easter he had 15 brain tumors!! All are gone now but they are watching one! God has definitely been in control and still is.
I have two boys who have been a "rock" for me and I am sooo thankful. We are a very close family and this has really hit us as a family.
When we were first told about this cancer I too was devestated thinking only the worst. I realized then I could NOT fix this and for the first time I had to put my TOTAL trust in the Lord. My church rallied around us and God has been in total control. We are still facing some battles but we are headed in the right direction. Stay strong and know that I will be praying for YOU AND your husband. Caregivers need prayer too! God Bless You!

On my site you do not need a password, just an email.

I, too, read Hop's update and was so happy to hear the results of his surgery! Not only for Marygale & Hop, but selfishly for myself as well...it gives me a measure of hope for my own coming up.

    Miracles DO happen.

Yep, Hes talking to God right now...and their both getting a kick out of ya'll having to put up with the monster while their both back in the O.R. taking it easy.....The kid is a way to get your nerves up so as to take whatever God throws at you. But, remember, He will only give you what you can handle. He will carry the rest. He is readying you for the recovery process that is fixing to unfold in your house. He is testing your attitude and patience skills, you will need them when recovery starts...The child will reap what he sows, trust me, no deed be it good or bad goes without some type of reward, good or bad.....Its a shame Dr. Phil is not there..He would take care of it immediately.....God Bless ya hun....I know what you are going through...........

    HEY BUZZARD------FROM HOP
I read your entry about Hop having a purpose yet, in his life. The following is what he dictated to me to write to you:............

Did you see the movie, "THE JERK" staring Steve Martin.............If you did, you'll know what I'm referring to. ie: My SPECIAL PURPOSE. This really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. They took out about 10 - 12 inches. Sure enjoy all the msgs.

    JAN 22---UPDATE ON THE CAPTAIN
I went to Hop's room about 0500 this morning. Just now back at the hotel. Here s the latest update:

His color is better, looks much better and much stronger. Blood sugar 257, they gave iminsulin. Antibiotics are making it go up. Doc was in and said Hop did very well in surgery and his hospital stay will depend on what all the lab work shows...Chemo -- will aso depend on reports from path. lab.
They got him up on the side of the bed this morning and had him stand. He said it felt like someone had attached a tractor wheel weight to him. All and all, he's right where he should be and doing great.

    Something to think about........
Hi again guys.......just something to think about, you need to just get a mind set that there will be chemo, and that there will be times when you get blind-sided by something that doesn't go along with your way of thinking it should...What I am saying is enjoy the moment that you are in and don't get tunnel vision as to how it will go because I got my mind set on what my paths would be only to get kicked in the butt because it all didn't go the way I had it planned out...Im only wanting the both of you to not get your heart set on something and then have a rug jerked out from under you. I did that twice, just take everything no matter what it is and deal with it as it comes along. Nothing is cut and dry in this journey. I just want to save ya as much downtime as possible...Spirits need to be high through all of this........That way if you plan on chemo and then find out he doesn't need it all the better, just don't not plan on it and then find out he has to do it..I hope im making sense here...Pathology is another waiting game I went through, I planned for the worse and my news seemed great when I got it....I worked the lows into being highs for me by manipulating the way I thought things would turn out....It has worked for me ever since...and Im 4 treatments from being done completely except for routine checkups.......Hop will be there also before you know it.......God Bless ya guys.....

    Hey Marygale and Hop.... I'm
Hey Marygale and Hop.... I'm late trying to catch up on all the messages about Hop's surgery. Congratulations!! Yes, I know what Buzz is saying... and I've been there too. You listen to the doctors, you absorb the information they give you, you set your mind around what they say is going to happen (or not going to happen) and you figure you know exactly what the path will be and WHAM! it changes. It never is exactly the same as how you think it will be... which is not to say it's bad, good or indifferent... just don't set your mind on it being one way. I'm going through that now and I swear the tiring part is not the surgeries or the treatments, but the getting one's mind around the fact whenever you figure you have it figured out, it changes :)

Hang in there and tell Hop I say HI!!! :D
