CoQ10 warning

Hi,
While I was getting my chemo this past week, a few of the patients were talking about various things they thought helped or didn't during their chemo treatments. One patient mentioned taking CoQ10 (Coenzyme Q 10)... anyhow, the onc. nurse chimed in that she doesn't know about the affects of some of what they spoke of, but she does know that it's documented that taking CoQ10 interferes with the effectiveness of chemotherapy because it doesn't allow the chemo to enter the mitochondria of the cells. I've heard and read many good things about taking this enzyme, but what my nurse said was enough to make me avoid taking it during chemotherapy! Probably good to take other times, but not during chemo!! Just thought I'd share what I heard. I know we all hear a lot of things- anyone else have any thoughts on this (or any other supplement during chemo?)

About CoQ10
Dear Lisa,
Please remember to consult a qualified medical professional (such as your primary care provider) prior to using alternative methods for cancer treatment, as you should be aware of possible interactions, side effects and/or complications.
The American Cancer Society provides credible medical and nutritional information both at cancer.org and through the National Cancer Information Center (1-800-227-2345) 24 hours a day. The link below will take you specifically to information on CoQ10.
