edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
Five years ago today I was told the horrible news, "I have bad news, you have a mass." I had a colonoscopy to check on my colitis. I thought the symptoms were the colitis acting up. I was found to have stage 3 rectal cancer. I have had 3 surgeries, chemo/radiation, 11 hospitalization some of which included bowel obstuctions. It wasn't always easy and I somtimes wondered if I was going to make it. My family and friends and you on the ACS siteall helped me through.

I am so happy to be writing this. thanks for all your support.

For all of you still in treatment, it does get better.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! WOOOOHOOO

From a nine year survivor to a five year survivor (I was stage 3 rectal cancer), congratulations!! I also had some roadblocks, both physically and psychologically, but I am still here running and working and parenting and shoveling more snow that most of you could ever imagine (western NY). Keep up the good work, you are now a tested veteran survivor!
