56 yr old in good health, just diagnosed with Gleason 6, has anyone had any experience with Dr. Alan Wein at UPenn? Any other doctors at UPenn? Insight much appreciated!

Maxy, Google his name on the internet. It will give you some background info on Dr. Wein. You are very young. I hope you are considering surgery (RP or Robotics).

    Maxy,

Sorry about your recent diagnosis. I was 58 when diagnosed and elected to have RP. I have never regretted my decision and have regained full functionality and no side-effects. The treatment of choice, from what I have heard is robotic surgery, especially at your age.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I am 66 with Gleason 6 (3+3) - PSA 2.7. I am from Philly. Doctor Wein is very good - I understand he does open prostatectomy. I opted for robotic procedure with David Lee also affiliated with Penn at Penn Presby. He is great. My suregery is scheduled for Oct 22d.
