cat scan report/not good

Yesterday I got a call from onc saying he wanted to see me to discuss cat scan report of Monday.
I told him I had appt for the next day (Wed). He said he didn't want to wait that long. GULP!
Called my husband at work to meet me there and cancelled my massage (darn!)
Onc told me I had 2 -4 tumors in the brain. I usually just get abd, pelvis and chest ct, but was experiencing headaches and a little disequilibrium.
So, like Fran (FRANTIC-see her message below)I'll be starting radiation treatment to the brain. Mine will be 5 days per wk for 14 treatments.
Oh yeah, and the lung tumors grew, but that has to be put on hold til I finish this treatment. Not sure what we'll use yet since we've done all the typical treatments already.
MY husband and I are in shock. We had a good discussion last night so that was a good thing. Talked about things both of us are thinking of everytime we get bad news (which seems to be all the time), but never discuss.
Oh! and more good news. Cancer still hasn't spread to liver. Yippee. Thanks for all your words of support in previous posts!
Mary

Oh Mary! So sorry to hear about what you are having to go through.
You and your husband getting on the same wave will make a lot of difference in your mental attitude. I am so glad you have his support. Reminds me of the saying "when a door closes, God opens a window."
Lance did it, you can too.

    Mary,

I honestly don't know what to say. I am wiping tears as I write this. Even though we have never physically met, I feel a bond to you. We have similiar cancer stories and were diagnosed around the same time. My heart goes out to you.

You have a great attitude and that will help get you through this.

Livestrong. As always you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Mary,
I just posted this to Fran also. that a friend we met at my husband's chemo--also a stage IV colon cancer patient for 3-4 years recently found a brain and spinal tumor. He has had surgery and radiation and now chemo. The doctors were also surprised it spread to his brain. Please keep up the fight...You are in my thoughts and prayers!!

DEar Mary: I cannot believe you had this mets to the brain also. I am shocked of it all. Tomorrow
(Friday) I have to get an assimulation to prepare for radiation. DO you have to wear a mask over your face?? I am so scared. I will try to fight this disease but it has taken a toll on me just like everybody on this board. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I will think of you when I am going thru these treatments also. Your friend

I am wearing a mask when I get the treatment. The treatment doesn't last long. I found it somewhat relaxing actually. It is a bit confining, but i don't have claustrophobia issues. When they are making the mask for you it actually almost feels like a warm facial initially. Quite nice. Unfortunately that only lasts for a minute or less before it hardens as it conforms to the face.
My prayers are with you. I don't have the pain issues that you have, so I feel lucky about that. I'm sorry you are going through this.
I remember how well radiation worked on my rectal tumor, so I'm holding on to the belief that it will work just as well as it did then.
May that be true for you too!
