Thank you all who gave me your input about having a port put in.

I was indeed asleep and now I'm experiencing soreness in my shoulder, but no real pain. I also thought it would stick out more but it's not so bad.

    Glad to hear that all went well. My mom has had her port in for almost one year and we are so thankful for it. Makes blood tests and scans so much easier.

    I just had my port put in last Monday (5/21)and I have to say that I was bothered more by this than my colon resection. I guess it was the ultimate reality that this is really happening. But...I don't have children so I can't even imagine the stress you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you...You can do this and I know you'll be fine.

    Yea! Another step closer to life post-cancer!!!

    I had my port for 2 years, 2 cancers...I was sort of sad when it was removed, it was a friend that kept my arms safe from needles!!! lol

    Please hug that baby for me, too! They are such precious little beings!!!

    Glad you have made it through ok. It is very helpful to have. My onc wants me to keep it for two years after finishing chemo (18 months to go) and she has no argument from me. Just need to get it flushed every 6-8 weeks.
