Stats: Age 56, robotic prostatectomy 11/06, Gleason 6, cancer contained with negative nodes, 95% cure, great continence, no woody yet. great supportive wife. OK when do I not think about the cancer everyday; and why am I so damned depressed? |

Re: After treatment...then what
If you are looking for a solution to your depression may I suggest you talk to a psychologist or psychiatrist? Only the latter can prescribe medication, however. Actually, your GP may be able to help you with depression but probably only with medication. I hope that helps.
Could you tell us please, where you had your surgery performed and who the surgeon was? Thanks

Re: After treatment...then what
Hey Bonesareus,
Let's chat a for a moment here.
I am a survivor who had a RP in Jan of 04. My Gleason was also a 6. I was 45. That seems really unfair to me, but life gives no one a
free ride. I slowly regained sexual function after 6 months and can say after 3 years I have a normal sex life. I would expect the same for you.
This experience has so many faucets that can be depressing i'm not surprised you have those feelings.
Join a local support group and see your GP to set a starting point to deal with this aspect of your recovery. It is normal and easy to deal with.
Feel free to contact me if I can help.
