As if going through CAT scans and surgeries with my hubby wasn't bad enough, we found out today that our beloved jack russell most likely has cancer. We are scheduling biopsies and ultrasounds. Somehow this does not see very fair.

Sorry to hear this Sandy. Hope things work out. Our four legged friends are like family. Good luck and God Bless.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my cat 10 years ago to stomach cancer and another last year to diabetes. It is hard to believe how our animal friends suffer as we do. I wish you the very best. Monica

    Sandy,
My dad lost my mom one year ago on march 21st and his beloved bernese mountain dog was diagnosed at age 5 with lymphoma. She has maybe a year to live. It isn't fair at all andI just don't get it for sure.

It's unfair and I don't know what kind of cancer it is. Depending upon the type, there may be hope even without hugely expensive (and questionable treatment.)

I was diagnosed in late May 2005 and in early August 2005 (after my first chemo treatment) one of my dogs - Byron, the Lab - was diagnosed with two mast cell tumors (a cancer common in large breed dogs). He had surgery, but even though one tumor was in a very "iffy" location, the doctor got clean margins and he has been fine since. So, maybe there is hope. At the time, I thought "DAMN - isn't one cancer enough for this family?"

I'll be thinking of your dog, also.

So sorry to hear that news. Our pets help get us through the rough times and it's hard for us to imagine what they are going through. I got my Great Pyrenees, Mojo, shortly after my surgery. I believe he helped me big time.

What will be especially hard is if your jack russell loses that "pep" that the breed has. That is what makes them SO lovable! Maybe hubby and pup will lean on each other and both will get better.

    Hugs,

    Stacy
