Since June 2003 I have read your posts and discussions. My mom was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. She was always interested in what all of you had to say and I would access the site for her. She had chemo for just about the full 2 1/2 years,FOLFIRI, FOLFOX, chemoembolization of the liver and most recently restarted Avastin plus FOLFOX.
On December 18,2005 mom lost her battle. She experienced a heart attack while receiving chemo which ultimately led to heart failure and her death.
She and I learned alot from all of you survivors and I just wanted to let all of you know how helpful you all are.
P.S. Mom was 81 years old when diagnosed with many metastatic lesions to the liver and lived till the age of 84.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your mom to this disease; but glad that this site was of help. Your mom sounds like she put up a good fight.
My dad was diagnosed at age 82, then we lost him to his recurrance and mets 3 years later. I only found this site after my own diagnosis 2 years ago, but have also learned so much here. (I hope you have had your own colonoscopy!).
My sympathy to you and your family, Judy

My deepest sympathy to you. Your mother was a very strong person to go through the treatments at her age and hang in there for a few more years.

Thank you for your kind words. We all try to be here for each other. It is an awful disease and we all learn so much from sharing our experiences and knowledge.

    Sincerely,

    Kerry

Our most sincere sympathy from OZ. I guess one of the uplifting things about this site is that no matter what advice is given there is always the chance that someones life may be enhanced by the information posted and in lots of ways some benefit greatly from that advice. The support that we share here must in a small way comfort those who are facing the toughest battles. Sadly it is a fact that we lose dear friends to this disease....all of us are touched by the sadness. But in the wake of it all we continue on, hoping that some comfort can be found in those that have battled and won.
Be at peace with yourself now...for 3 years your mum put up a wonderfull fight and for her age she must have been an extraordinary lady to endure all of that treatment.
