I just finished 9 rounds of taxol/carbo, have felt rotten for 8 months, had debulking. I've had extreme bone pain, fatigue, hair loss, etc. I'm stage 4 oc. My gyn/onc Dr now wants me to start tamosifen. In researching this drug I find similar side effects and lots of people who say "I had to stop taking it" but don't say why. Frankly I'd like to find my baseline, see if it's possible for me to feel at all good, before I start something new. Tamoxifen seems to be mainly for breast ca. I'm 54. With the limits of stage 4 I do't want to live the rest of my life in misery, I'll take quality over quantity of life. Anyone else tried this drug? I'm afraid my Dr. maybe having trouble letting go. Any info will be much appreciated.
thank you.

Hi MW, I haven't taken the drug but have talked to several women that have. They have said they had minimal side affects with very good results. I sometimes wish my Dr would have tried it though as i am now on my 3rd line of chemo but still hanging in there. Sorry you are having to deal with this. Prayers and Hugs BonnieRose

    Hi MW,

I who took tamoxifen after surgery for breast cancer (who was later dx with OVCA), and she said it didn't have much by way of side effects. One of my doctors said, after I questioned her about another of my docs, that I needed to know that all doctors want to be successful when treating a patient, so they'll do their best.

This would be a good time for you to call the American Cancer Society, if you haven't already, and ask them if they have anyone who can discuss tamoxifen on a "user" level.

My heart goes out to you, and I hope you'll find the solution that works best for you.
