Hey all,
Wish I had better news. They opened Bobby up this past Wednesday for the pelvic exenteration surgery and closed him back up. They were not able to remove the tumor as it had grown through the Jpouch and attached to the butt bone! Needless to say we (the 12 present family members and myself) were devestated!!!! This really bites! We are meeting Monday with a new oncologist at Duke to hear what he has to say...maybe we can get it another way. God help us! I just feel sooooooo down.
Grace

We know the feeling of devestation! Sloan Kettering did the same thing to me after many tests. I had previous operation and radiation and chemo in 2000. 15 months ned. Then recurrence picked up on colonoscopy biopsy. Went to Sloan with no results except to go on Chemo the rest of my life. Not a good choice. I had Body Radio Surgery, pin point radiation of tumor, at Staten Island University Hospital. 6 treatments with no side effects. I then had 29 months ned, when the colonoscopy again showed malignent cells. Oncologist said I might try Radio Frequency Ablation. I took a CT/PET Scan and they were unable to locate the tumor. I'm now on Folfox for 6 months in case there are any cells around. There are other choices. Keep the faith. I'm 73 and have survived since October of 1999.
  • Grace, I really don't know what to tell you except to say I am sorry about the news on Bobby and will pray that there is another way they can possibly remove the growth. I will be thinking of you both and sending nothing but positive vibes your way. Hard as it is, hang in there and take comfort in your family.

    Hugs,
    Monika
