My name is Jeanne and I was diagnosed on January 16,2004 after several weeks of being treated for what was thought to be shoulder-back muscle spasms. From there it has been a non-stop rush to radiation and chemo and I still haven't digested alot of what I am facing. Sometimes all I can think is that I am only 46 and have 4 children to raise and I'm being told 2 years. I can't get a hold of my emotions, I can't seem to figure out how to navigate this website very well and feel near panick that I can't seem to connect to anyone who has the same diagnosis(Left lung with bone matastisis to the right ribs and to the liver). Please, if there is anyone out there with
similar diagnosis, let me hear from you.

    Hello Jeanne;
    First, so very sorry to hear of you dx., this is a dreadful disease and know should have to go through it alone and you don't.
    I was dx' in April of 2001, and had my left lung removed on 5/2/01, stage IIB. On Dec. 18, Brain mets were found and I have recently completed Whole Brain Radiation, (WBR). In addition, a recent PET showed a "hot spot" in the mediastinum (sp). I will be having CT's of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis done on Mon. to further determin. In any case, I have been a lung cancer abvocate for almost 3 years now and know may more people that are doing the same. So please feel free to ask away, you can send a PM, here through ACS, or I can also be reached over at lungcancersurvivors.org.

    Some quick advice, pay no attention to the stats, they're outdated,a waste of time, dismal and know there are SURVIVORS in every stage. Look to get treated at a cancer center by specialists and always try to get second opinions. Most good doc.'s welcome it.
    God bless, hang in there, the shock will pass, and you'll be in my prayers.
    Bobmc- NSCLC- stage IIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01, MRI 12/18/03- 2 brain mets found- WBR comp. 2/12/04 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"

    Jeanne,
    I am just a month ahead of you! I was diagnosed with stage IV in December. I'm 41 and have a 7 year old and a 14 month old son. Please email me at [email protected] and visit this page http://www.harborwebworks.com/nsclc.htm
    If you are a non smoker, please complete my survey. Also there is a great article from my survey page about a woman who is cancer free after 9 years.
    Hang in there!!! I'd love to chat more with you.

    Hi Jeanne, Please do not give up. I was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma with hot spots on the mediastinum(pet scan)October of 1998. I had surgery to remove the upper right lung where the tumor was. I then followed with chemotherapy and radiation. Well, here I am after over 5 years. No recurrence at all. I see my oncologist every 3 mths and get a ct scan every 6 months. Recently my children had a party for me to celebrate!! other than having gained some weight, my life is normal. If you want to, I would be happy to communicate with you. You must have a positive attitude, I really believe it really affects your body. Good wishes......

    HI JEANNE,
    I HAD BREAST CANCER IN 2002 AND NOW FEB.10,2004 I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUNG CANCER AND ITS DEEP IN MY CHEST CAVITY AND LYMPH NODES. I TOO HAD A FEW MUSCLE SPASMS AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. I WENT FOR MY 6MONTH CHECK UP AND MY TUMOR MARKER WAS ELEVATED,DONE A PET SCAN AND THEN I WAS BEGINNING CHEMO. I WAS TOLD IT'S NOT CURABLE, JUST HOPING IT CAN SLOW IT DOWN OR STOP IT. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. IT IS A HARD THING. ENJOY EVERYDAY WITH THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE AND KEEP A POSITIVE OUTLOOK. ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS EVEN IF THEY SEEM DUMB. DR'S SEEM TO FORGET THERE IS ALOT WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT CANCER UNTIL YOU ARE FACED WITH IT. HANG IN THERE.
