Question for anyone and everyone...

I've read a few personal web pages and there are references to "blood work" being done in follow ups. Can anyone who has mentioned this blood work tell me what tests are being done to determine the presense of melanoma? Are these RT-PCR tests?

    Hi rick. I can't speak for others, but when I have "blood work" it is standard blood draws and testing. There isn't a blood test for melanoma, so they look generally at your blood to see if anything else indicates that there is a disease presence. For example, liver enzymes, red blood count, white blood count. The usual things you see on ER. Hope that helps...D-

    I knew that to date there wasn't a blood test for melanoma, but in this world of nanoseconds, new medical discoveries take forever to hit the mainstream, so I figured I'd ask.

    according to my surgeon they are checking liver enzyme tests, routine chemistries that can detect a possible presence of the melanoma.
