My Mother's Daughter

My 67 year old Mom has just been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with possible lymph involvement. I am in another state and this is very hard to deal with. I am trying to be supportive from afar and still be a loving wife and mom of 6 year old twins at home. Doctor says this may or may not be operable. Lung cancer he says is only "curable" through surgery. Should she not be a surgery candidate they will do chemo/radiation and then how long does she have? Any thoughts from others and survivors?

dear Rebob: Your mama has a long way to go before anyone can say she is not curable. That was a flippent comment about only being cured through surgery. Sounds like your mom has caught her lung canncer in the beginning. There is not sure answer to anything, I have heard of people who lived 10 12 years, dont ask those suckers how long she has only god knows that. They said I was uncurable and I am in remission now, so go figure. It is very hard to face this alone, is there away that your mama could be close to you? Hope I helped, check out my web page

Hi Rebob - I was diagnosed with nscl with mets to lymph nodes, and brain. With the help of God, good doctors, good meds, and a good attitude, 19 mos. later, I am still here!!! I have beem in remission over a year now. I never had surgery. It's not that doctors don't know what they are talking about, it's just everyones cancer is different.
Let us know how things go.

Dear Rebob, I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I pray that your Mother is a canidate for the surgery. My Daddy was not canidate since he had small cell carsinoma and mets to the liver. However, my Aunt had lung cancer. She had surgery and that was more than 7 years ago! She is totally cured! Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It's so VERY hard when a parent or loved one is so ill.
God bless you.
Marcy
