Incontinences During Radiation Treatment

Hello, I just started (2 treatments) Protron Therepy radiation treatment for my prostate cancer. Part of the process is to fill your bladder before the treatment. I'm having a very difficult time being able to hold a full bladder long enough to get through the treatment completed. As most of you know you are required to not move at all while the raditation treatment is being done. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to correct it? One thing I will start tomorrow is no coffee before treatment and maybe try not to over hydrate before I go in. What are your thoughts?

    Clamps?

    Hi,

If your radiation tech allows it, you could use a penal clamp that goes on the outside of your penis during you treatment.

They gave me a clamp today.

They gave me a clamp today. Looks kind of painful. I'm hoping that no coffee and less hydration works so I don't have to use it, but if I do I will. Thanks for the feedback!

Ugh. A "clamp"? This for someone who goes through six to seven Depends every day? That sounds kind of dangerous if not barbaric to me. Is there something else that could be done? Asking for a friend.

Well, @Tico14 , there are some devices that can substitute diapers in guys having sort of overflow incontinence (too many diapers a day).

A condom catheter connected to a urine bag was the one recommended by my doctor but it is hard to stick it to the penis.

My experience using some times a silicone urinal (shaped like a shell) has been good and successful. This is used by climbers.

The "shell" is curved, discretely setting between the legs, and big enough to contain the penis and testicles. This connects to a urine bag strapped to the leg.

The only inconvenience is when we seat. The tip of the shell bends not allowing urine to pass.

As a precaution I use it inside a diaper but it all worked well so far.

    😉 Enjoy
