I have been taking Casodex 50 mg for nine years. I take it for two months and then stop for three months. My PSA has been between2 and now 50. It now is not working so good can I take something instead of Casodex. I think the cancer is still within prostrate gland and has not spread |

Need more info
I suggest you seek the advice of a competent urologist as to what your next step should be.
I have a feeling that he/she will prescribe an MRI and a biopsy, but I lack information on your case.
Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) to lower testosterone may also be in your future.

More details
Hi there,
Could you tell us more about yourself and your treatment so far?
Casodex is effectively ADT Lite insofar as it blocks testosterone receptors thus inhibiting the progress of prostate cancer.
There are alternatives such as Lupron or Firmagon that stop the production of testosterone completely.
Best wishes,
Georges
