Hi all, I have robotic partial nephrectomy tomorrow morning at 930am. Feeling really nervous. Hoping desperately that the growth isn't bigger than it seems on CT and fearful of going under for surgery. Thanks for all your support and I will see you on the other side. |

I'll give you the same advice I got for a different surgery: You don't have to be brave, you just have to show up.

You'll be fine Seanjg.
You'll be fine Seanjg. Tomorrow at this time, you'll be on the road (bed) to recovery. Best wishes for a really boring, uneventful surgery.
PS. The last ultrasound I had before surgery pegged mine at 1.8 cm. The pathology report on the actual lesion pegged it at 1.7cm.

Try and relax. Breathe.
I know it's easier said than done. They'll take care of you. It'll hurt. Brathe and relax. As soon as you're able try to walk it off. That helped me a lot.

Surgery done
Hey all
Surgery was pretty good really. No real pain and no complications I know of. Meeting surgeon later today. Thanks for all you support

Good news. Now, make sure
Good news. Now, make sure you do some walking and start peeing. I got out when I could say the pain was under control (and like you, there was no real pain) and when I peed after the catheter was removed. Nasty invention that catheter. I hated that more than the surgery.

YOU DID IT!
NICELY DONE. Take it easy, drink lots of water, listen to your body, and when you're ready, do your walking (with a good podcast or audio book on your phone to keep you company).
Here's to speedy healing!

I'm a 2 time cancer surgery
I'm a 2 time cancer surgery veteran and just relax. No matter how long the surgery takes it's only a couple of minutes for you. Recovery can be a pain but sure beats the alternative.
Prostatectomy in 2017 and Partial neph in January of this year. If I can do it anyone can. I even dread a flu shot.
