If it ain't one thing

So I am now at 7 years since neph. and it's time to see my doc for annual check up. At the beginning of this month I sent in my orders for CT scan w/o contrast. Called today for status and told that order has been refused and sent back to doc as insurance protocol only allows CT for the first 3 years. Strange they should say that because I had one last year (6years on). As all will know this is a stressfiul time. I always worry just before check up. They have taken 3 weeks to decide and it's now back with the doc. My follow up with him is August 5 so I didn't really need this. Oh well such is life!

    Curious

At my last check-up, I asked how long we'd keep up the scans.  The PA on my surgeon's team said 10 years then alternate a CT and US.  I'm curious how my insurance will take this news.

    Good luck to you.

    Annoyed with insurance companies

I was at 4 years this past January and was told by insurance that I was past needing ct scan.

Something showed on my US so I had a ct scan anyway. Thankfully was nothing.

Now I'm getting US next January at 5 years. Annoys me bc insurance says not necessary

After 3 years and that's two different companies, Aetna and United healthcare.

Unless I want to do self pay...ugh

    Ultrasound tomorrow

I have a Cigna plan and on the denial letter for CT it states that decision was based on Medicare rules. Doesnt explain how i got a CT last year at 6 years post neph. Guess someone slipped up. Anyhow Us being done tomorrow. So fingers crossed!

    Wondering the same

I just had my four year follow up with a CT scan - I'm waiting to see what insurance does with it. I'm scheduled for my alternating ultrasound so I think the oncologist is making it work somehow.

    It's NED

So after all the fretting and change from CT scan to ultrasound, it's great news. Doc was very pleased with my results and therefore it's ultrasound, chest xray and labs next  year.
