Hi all! I was diagnosed with Dermatofibrosarcoma 4 months ago in my right axillary(shoulde)region. I will try my best to make a long story short. I went through 2 separate Moh's surgeries. I had a very bad case. I was left with a big gaping hole bigger than the size of a softball. I had to have plastic surgery and my plastic surgeon had to do a skin graft. I am 7 weeks post op. My plastic surgeon had cleared me and didn't have to go back to him unless something went wrong. Last week, I went to my PCP because of the skin graft area. It had tore in one area which my plastic surgeon had seen. It had gotten worse and I thought I had some infection. As soon as my PCP saw it she was startled! Down below the graft area, my arm is swelled out. It hurts bad and is hard to the touch. She immediately said it was an abscess and called my plastic surgeon and made me an appointment for the next day. I went to him the next day. He saw it, examined it and said no it's not an abscess because there is no redness. His next response and the look on his face was startling and very worrisome. He said due to the hardness, the bad pain, swelling, and because you had the cancer this looks like more cancer and we NEED to do a biopsy asap now! He did the biopsy and I am now playing the waiting game once again. I would like to know if anyone else has had this same kind of experience?? I'm scared and would like some support and insight. Can dermatofibrosarcoma be in two different very close spots in the same area?? I hope and pray someone else has had this same kind of experience. Thank you in advance!

I too had DFSP, but did not have a recurrence.  It was my dermatologist that performed my surgery.  How are you now?  I have not heard of it being close.  Unless there were not clear margins after all.  I will be interested in your reply.
