Oxaliplatin (sp?) scares the crap out of me.  I will be following you to see how you are doing.  I start folfox Monday.

    Good luck. The first couple

Good luck. The first couple of weeks will be okay depending on your tolerance. The entire cocktail is pretty bad, it's just that OXA is the one that has the most negative sides and lasts the longest. We do what we can to get by until this is over. One thing that will help is staying hydrated. It might be a little difficult later on but you should drink plenty of liquids while you can at first.

Cymbalta? that's what my PCP gave me along with gabapentin. Just curious as to what you were prescribed, so I can do a check in with my doc.

    Duloxetine. I don't like it,

Duloxetine, yes that's the same as Cymbalta. I don't like it, makes me sleepy as if I needed some other thing to make me sleepy. Supposedly takes a few weeks to notice the difference. I mostly wanted relief from the cold sensitivity.

    Yes, the hydration helps

Yes, the hydration helps flush the chemicals out of your system faster. I kept a case of water sitting on my kitchen table so that I would remember to drink drink drink. I also bought a couple of packs of the drink mixes that are meant to be used in them to vary the flavor when I got sick and tired of water. Just remember not to drink anything cold... It made me feel like I was trying to swallow a million shards of glass, and that was after the first dose. Me, like an idiot, forgot the warnings, and as soon as I came home took a big ole swig of my husband's iced tea...  LOL, I never spit something out so fast in my life!

Make Sure To Report Everything SnapDragon

Keep track of all of your symptoms and bring them up with your oncologist.  As ZX10 mentioned, there is research about the effectiveness of 6 rounds vs 12 rounds.  In fact my oncologist mentioned this to me 5 years ago and he thought it would tend that way going forward. If I recall correctly, some countries outside the U.S. (Japan comes to mind) were already doing 6 rounfs in lieu of 12.  I have not checked up on this recently.

Try not to get too worried, just keep track of how you feel and adjust accordingly if you feel things coming on.  (Note cold sensisivity issue is one many get, so be prepared for that.   Basically anything that is cold can really hurt.  The fridge won't be a friend.  For me it was more the first week of the two week cycles.)
