Keytruda side effects?

I'm doing some research for my brother 40 year old brother who has Stage IV melanoma (metastisized to lymph and lung).  He is considering starting a cycle of Keytruda, and interested on personal stories of side effects.  He's done the research on lots of the "official" sites and met with his head oncologist at M.D. Anderson, but finds hearing from those who have gone through experiences very helpful as he makes decisions on treatment.  Any to share?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi Julie -

I just joined the website today. My father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma and had his first round of Keytruda today - how are you doing now? Hope you are feeling well!

    Keytruda

I have had Keytruda treatments about two years starting shortly after my diagnosis for melanoma stage four.  Primarily the only side effect i  experience is fatigue. I also have very itchy skin and I don’t know whether that is from the Keytruda or not. My oncologis says I will be on keyTruda for the rest of my life...however long that is. I think it was one of the first people at Kaiser Northern California to get it right after it was approved by the FDA. I was thrilled to not have to take chemo therapy.

    Keytruda

I have Stage IV Melanoma of the liver and lung.  My lung is almost clear now.  I was diagnosed August 2014.  I did a chemo round and Yervoy but the Yervoy almost killed me.  My Dr. fought BCBS to get me on the Keytruda about mid last year.  I have been doing great on it.  The only side affect for me is fatigue mostly. The cancer has not grown any since I started the Keytruda.  I am back working, riding horses and going out a little bit.  I feel pretty good considering.  My husband is divorcing me and I am depressed alot but that has nothing to do with the Keytruda.  Also remember, President Carter used the Keytruda to cure his melanoma.  Hope that helped.  Good luck and may you be blessed.

I am still on Keytruda and I have itchy palms and have to sand them off sometimes with a fingernail file.  My Dr. said that it was a side effect of the Keytruda.    No problem I say!

    Ketruda

Thank you for your comments.  I am very concerned to start Keytruda since I did Yurvoy and Optivo and hit every side effect which put me in the hospital.  Your comments have given me confidence about Ketruda.  .  Once again thank you.
