AUS op my turn

My turn tomorrow for the AUS800 Procedure. I have a good idea what to expect day to day. I was in touch with a member who has just gone through the op and he gave me a day to day which is great, thanks Vince. I’m in at 6.00 am for an 8.00 am start. I am hoping I can get out to return home, but the way here in Canada is an overnight stay, anyway I will work on that when I wake up. I have waited three years for this, I had problems with scar tissue which which held me back but thankfully has cleared up after two more ops. I have to admit I’m excited about ditching the pads and associated ancillaries I have tried over these years, its been pretty miserable but I haven’t let it stop me from travelling etc., even after the few times I’ve had mishaps and pissed my pants so to speak. I will check in when I get back to the ipad.

    Best of Luck and Outcomes

    I wish you the best of luck and outcomes in tomorrow's AUS surgery.  I've been through it, more than once, and I can unequivocably tell you that it is a quality of life changer.

    The recovery is rough, rougher than the prostatectomy surgery recovery (except for the Foley catheter), but the improvement in quality of life is well worth it.

    Thank you Joseph, back home now after the op. I have found the pain to be a lot less than I thought at present, the worst effect is the actual tummy cut rather than the perenium area But it’s early days. Getting up and down takes some time. Hopefully on my way to a quick recovery. I’m in Canada, they dont turn it on here for at least six weeks, seems a long way off. I was prescribed heavy painkillers but can’t take them so relying on full strength Tylenol. i will post as time goes by.

    I am at week four having been checked out by surgeon everything healing well and turn on in two weeks. He did mention, he had a concern on placement as I only have one ball, the other just won't come out even on warm days. Anyway he was satisfied and all is good. I had a good recovery, I stopped taking Tylenol after a couple of days the procedure was a lot less severe than the RP.  For anyone considering the procedure don't be concerned about pain and such. I know we are all different but I am not brave and the outcome is way better than I thought. Of course you are driven on by knowing things are going to be better, after ten pads a day I look forward to any improvement. There have been some bad days, but for the first time in a long time I am looking forward. I second guess myself every step of the way with this illness but now feel acceptance and looking forward to the future. I will report back in two weeks with my turn on report. Cheers all.

    Thank you for keeping us updated, and I am glad things are going well.  Hopefully in a few weeks you will get some great improvement and be able to get relief.  Keep us posted.
